So, since the girl who used to live here doesn't remember anything scary about the house, maybe the people who lived here before me were satanic and maybe that's what this is all about.

Many times a baby monitor will pick up someone else's monitor .

Mine would pick up my neighbors from about 400 ft away . So keep that in mind when if you do hear voices through the baby monitor .

Have you considered doing a cleansing on your entire house? I'm a practicing green witch and I could send you a ritual for a house cleansing to remove unruly spirits. It's super easy.

Wednesday,

A Wiccan I know told me to get a sage/smudge stick and do something in all 4 corners. But I am a Christian and I'm not sure about doing a Wiccan ritual.

My dad taught unconditional love, respect for all! While I consider myself to be a simple, conservative christian, I think if something was happening in my home that affected my own children negatively (and being scared all the time is very negative) I would have to move no matter what. Just my feelings on this subject! I have never dealt with some thing like this before, but I did have many "dreams" after dad died that were "very real" to me and these dreams did make me feel better for what it's worth. However, I don't think I would stay in a house that terrified me! I think my automobile would be a better place to live than in a scary home.

I have respect for Wiccans, if not, I wouldn't be friends with people who are Wiccan. I'm just uncomfortable being a Christian and performing a Wiccan ritual. I just spoke with a friend on the phone and she said that maybe instead of the sage/smudge stick and actually performing the Wiccan ritual, to try burning sage candles or put sage in a pot of water and let it boil for a while or get vaporizers and put sage in water in them around the house.

I hired my assistant to work from 9 to 3 tomorrow so I can go talk to my preacher (if he's available) and go to the stores to look for sage candles and sage seasoning. I might even get myself to go to the store my Wiccan friend told me about and look into the sage/smudge stick and 7 day candle someone on here told me about.

Knowing me, I will buy everything that everyone has suggested and stand there with the Bible in one hand and the smudge stick in the other hand!

Also, I posted about this on my Facebook page. I know a lot of 20 or so year old guys from when my older daughter was younger. My house was the hangout house back then. I don't really keep in touch with the kids from then because they've grown up and gone about their lives. But one of the boys (20 or so years old now) just messaged me and asked if I was really that scared in this house. I told him yes and some things that have happened. And that my younger daughter is now asking to stay at her friends' house instead of sleeping in her own house. He said that he isn't feeling well tonight, but offered to come crash here if it would make me feel safer. I told him that I think he needs to be in good condition in case something happens while he's here. So maybe I will get him to sleep over in a few days after he feels better.

I'm not wiccan, pv, and it's not a wiccan ritual. It's just a pagan thing. But I totally understand. Let me know if you change your mind and I'll be happy to send it to you. Burning sage in the corners is actually a part of this ritual! So you're kinda doing part of it already... While you're shopping, if you think you may consider doing it, pick up a small sage bundle, some sea salt, and a white candle. That's all you'll need if you decide to do the ritual. Oh and put out a dish to collect some rain water. Good luck!

Wow... I've been skipping over this thread cause it was really long with a ton of comments, but curiosity got the best of me tonight so I read em all.

Couple of thoughts.. houses do settle, and make weird noises from time to time. Partner this with some of the other things you've seen, heard, and some of the noises could be explained.. plus your so intently listening that every little sound is gonna get your mind racing. Also, falling asleep in a house that you've heard/saw unexplained things in has to be a good scenario to get your mind racing .. could explain your daughter hearing things on the monitor. She fell asleep and was dreaming?

OR.. someone does get in and mess with you. Grab a tape measure and check the size of all the rooms, do some math and see if it adds up. A friend of mine years ago had an apt. and after living there for months, had another friend come over. About 5 min later, the comment was made that .. well.. "shouldn't this back bedroom be bigger"? He was right. There was a fake wall. An entire wall. 8 ft high and 20 ft long. There was 2 ft of space behind it making the room 2ft narrower than it should have been. This was very well done and not noticed by the first 20 people who saw the room. Access was through a panel in the corner that when removed had water pipes behind it with shut off valves. They were actually fake pipes that came out and revealed another panel that when removed opened up a big enough hole to squeeze through. Lots of outlets behind this wall.. looked like a secret room to plug in grow lights for weed.

Anyways . I hope you figure it out, and my suggestion to help ya sleep would be to replace some of your light switches with sensors that turn on when you walk in. Oh, and the wasp spray works beautifully.. Will leave a full sized adult male crying like a child, or knocking over furniture due to blindness while trying to find the door.

See! It does happen where someone lives in the walls! It doesn't happen often and is practically unbelievable when someone first tells you about it, but it does happen!

Wow! Mr. Sir Husband, I bet your friend was scared to death and freaked out when they found that false wall! I don't know what the room sizes should be in this house. I will have to look into that and measure the rooms. I have just been looking for false doors or ways to open a wall.

Mister Sir Husband 10:26 PM 05-26-2014
Eh.. not really freaked out, just thought it was kinda cool. Was a really good spot though to grow/ store drugs as no one had any chance of finding it. He actually ended up buying the house later on, cut a bigger hole in the fake wall and installed one of those bookcases in front of it with a secret latch to move it. He keeps his safe in there... and a few other things he wants no one to ever find.

I have a small room at the end of a hallway that I would love to do this with someday. I could have a serious man cave in there and nobody would ever know.

Smudging is also done by Native Americans, not just Wiccans/Witches AND it's not just for home… people do the cleansing ritual on themselves too. I smudge every home I ever lived in after being in one that had bad MoJo. (I didn't even move into this new home until I smudged it just to make sure there was no bad spirits from get go). BTW, I now follow a spiritual path, but grew up in an Anglican home

I believe smudging originated with native Americans. Actually, lots of our traditions do. Native American spirituality falls under the pagan "umbrella" and is one of the oldest paths.

My first husband was Cherokee… my 2nd was Norse. I've been involved with pow wows for 30 years as I wanted my children to understand their heritage and eventually understood that native spirituality fit me better than the Protestant church I had grown up in. Many of my friends are pagan of some form or another and I tend to attract similar minded childcare families

Welp, I don't have anything productive to say other than I'm sleeping with every light on tonight!!

The house we live in now has a tombstone on the side of the house. Yes. A tombstone. Of a man who was born in 1894. I was told, "It's been there forever!" The date of death is before the date of birth, so I can only assume that it was messed up, and for whatever reason, the man's family decided to keep it. Because what a conversation piece! I have been assured that no one is buried there and there's a stone in the local cemetery that matches the man, with a correct death date on it.

I did live in a house in New York that was very creepy. Ever since then, I get the feeling of houses. I haven't lived in one that was near as creepy as that house. Weird things would happen. We would walk into the house and hear our phone on speaker dialing, or the operator saying the line had been disconnected. Music boxes that would spontaneously play. The dome lights of the cars come on while sitting in the driveway locked. And the feeling of being watched. Definitely don't get that here!

Still sleeping with my lights on, though, I am thoroughly freaked out!

Last night, my 16 year old daughter insisted on sleeping in my bed with me. I have a TWIN sized bed! So we had me, my daughter, and my dog in a twin sized bed! Oh good grief! I told her that was a one night thing; it just doesn't work for me.

I talked to my preacher about all this yesterday. He suggested that I strengthen my faith, remember that the more afraid you are, the more power the demon has over me, and to ask God to cast out the demon rather than me doing so in the Lord's name.

Given what happened with the baby monitor, I don't think I'd want to watch any footage from a security camera! Personally, I'd save the $120 and put it into savings so I could move out as soon as possible! We've had some creepy things happen around here and we do sleep with the hall light on at night because of that but it's never been quite to the level you describe. I give you credit for hanging in there for as long as you have. I get creeped out reading this thread but I can't stop reading the updates!

Out of curiosity....In any of the other stories you've heard about where a person was secretly living in someone else's home, how long had it gone on before that person was caught? It seems as though 2 years is an awfully long time to be able to live in someone's home uninvited and not be seen coming or going.

Trying to find out who or what this is in my house has literally scared my daughter so much that she refused to sleep in her own house! I slept through whatever noise my daughter and her friend heard on the baby monitor this past weekend. But her friend refuses to ever sleep over again and my daughter refused to sleep here until I left the person or thing in my house alone. So I turned off the baby monitor and have not actively tried to find the person/thing for the past couple of nights. My daughter was willing to stay home if I left the situation alone. So I think I will wait until I can buy a security camera and ask my nephew to install it while my daughter is not home so she does not know I have one.

Someone on this thread mentioned that they wouldn't want to see who or what is on the security camera. I do! I want to know who or what is in my home! I want to know who or what it is so I can figure out who or what I am up against and how to get rid of them/it.

I keep wanting to stay in the basement overnight for a few nights, but I can't get the courage up to do so!

I have been going in the basement every day and nothing has changed. I haven't heard anything since last weekend. The weird noises can happen one night and not happen for another 2 months or so, or they can go on for night after night for months and then stop for a while. They are so random.

You said you are a Christian
why don't you pray to your Lord Jesus and ask Him to cast away any evil in your home?

I did this one time
I was alone with with my kids, my dh was working night shift and all of a sudden it got really cold and quiet and I had this weird feeling, and heard some kind of noise so I just prayed and asked God for his protection and right away it got warm again and I felt at peace.

I was really stupid and fell asleep with the TV on that night and I guess some satanic type show came on .. I woke up in the middle and turned it off.

I wouldn't smudge your house. If it is a really negative energy, you could upset it further. You may need a cleansing done.

Smudging with sage is supposed to cleanse your home...

"Essentially, a smudge ritual or a smudge ceremony is performed to correct the energy in a home, in an office, in an object, or even in a person. This is accomplished by burning sage or sage and a combination of herbs, in a focused, intentional way to cleanse out negative energy and to replenish positive, healing energy. Click on the links at right to find out more about this ancient healing ritual and how you can utilize it in your life..."

2. Open every door and window in your house, and turn on fans if you have them.

3. Light the stick, and when it catches fire, blow it out and allow the embers to start to smoke (like you would light incense).

4. Set your intention for each room. Say a prayer of cleansing. Laurie Sue suggested, “I cleanse this room of any impurities, negativity, or anything that does not suit or support the people that live here.”

5. Walk around the room, waving the sage stick so its smoke drifts into corners, along walls, around windows, and along ceiling lines. As you do, imagine the smoke absorbing negativity, problems from those who were in the space before you, toxicity, and anything else you want to go away. See the smoke dissipating and floating out the windows, and imagine that bad energy flowing out of your space, making room for positive, fresh energy.

6. After you’ve blessed every room, give yourself a sage shower. Cup your hands over the smoke and “wash” your face with it, then wave it all over your body as you would in a water shower. Visualize any residual negativity sailing out of your body, out of your home, and into oblivion.

7. Extinguish the stick in the cup of water or – if your stick was very small or is almost done – flush it down the toilet. You can also bury it in your back yard (if you are very sure that it is extinguished).

Nothing has happened since the things that I have posted on this thread. But like I said, they come and go. Things might happen one night/day then not happen for a month. Or things might happen every night/day for weeks then suddenly stop for a while. Typically things happen at night, but on slim occasion we have seen weird shadows during the day. A couple of times during the day we heard what sounded like a cell phone alarm go off (that was a few months ago). I have never heard my neighbor's phones ring or heard their alarms go off so it was very odd to hear that for those couple of days.

The sound that my daughter heard over the baby monitor scared her and her friend so much that I don't want to take a chance on her hearing something like that again. I slept through the noise that they heard, so I don't see the point of having it on anyway. So I have left the baby monitor off.

I went to the store planning to buy the sage stick, but just couldn't bring myself to do so. I am more relying on my Christian faith. I talked with my pastor about this. He said to strengthen my faith. So I have been reading Bible passages and praying more often specifically about this situation.

I asked my nephew if he would install security cameras (the ones at Walmart for $120). He said he will, but then I lost a daycare kid because the mother's boyfriend broke up with her so she doesn't have his money to help her with her expenses now. So she's having the child go to Grandmom's instead of to daycare. So I, again, do not have the money to buy the security cameras.

I have made a point to go to the basement each day and check it out. I haven't seen anything odd or changed. At first my dog didn't want to go and I had to force him to go with me. But after a couple of days, he goes more willingly. He slowly creeps around and sniffs around intensely in the basement. I keep trying to make myself go down to the basement around midnight each night, but I just can't get the courage up to do so. The best I can get myself to do is open the basement door and look down the steps. I tell myself that everything looks fine to me and close the door!

A big part of me wants to get the boxes out of the attic. But I don't 'do' attics and actually am a bit nervous that they might have Satanic things in them, so I really don't want to touch them.

Usually things stop for a while after I talk about it while I'm in the house. Like when I start telling my sister over the phone about the noises and things we see, when I 'announce to the spirits' in my house that they are not welcome here, when I start looking for whoever/whatever this is. It seems like when I start making a big to-do about it, it stops for a while. That's part of the reason that I started thinking it is a person rather than spirits. I started thinking that when I get verbal about the noises/things we see, the person hears me and realizes that they have been too loud so they either leave for a while or get really quiet for a while.

I've looked for false walls and ways that someone might be able to come in and out but can't find any.

I just remembered about a Flip video recorder that I already own that I had forgotten about. It has 1 hour and 19 minutes recording time on it. I'll put it in the basement tonight and see if it captures anything.

Actually, I'll put it in the basement in a minute just to play around with it for the afternoon/evening and then I'll erase it and have it start recording again tonight.

I just went downstairs, got my video recorder and watched it.

As I approached my recorder, I noticed that the red light on the front of the recorder was off - which meant that the recorder had been turned off! I picked it up and saw that YES, it HAD been turned OFF!!!

I brought it upstairs, sat at my desk on the main floor and watched the video. It had 1 hour and 19 minutes of recording time available and only recorded 24 minutes and 25 seconds worth before somehow it got turned off. I watched the entire video and didn't see anything, but a few times heard what sounded like movement and one time it sounded like someone had turned on a water faucet. It sounded like water running full force. One of the movement sounds I heard was like the sound of when you are wearing a raincoat and you move your arms. Another was like a faint sound of the shuffling of feet and another was just like the sound of someone resituating themselves while sitting.

Oh my Jesus..... My husband is out of town so I really shouldn't be reading this! Try the camera again. Place it somewhere different, maybe backed up into a corner, so you know a person couldn't come from behind and turn it off.

Does it plug in or run on battery? If battery does it run for awhile and shut off automatically? Does a light show when it records? If so put tape over the light and hide it in a plant or stuffed animals or something that will camouflage the camera even in a register or vent.

In response to your last post PV, I have some experience with digital camcorders that shut off after a while when not plugged in, no matter how much storage space/time you have available, and whether it is in use or not. I would try it again, but plug it into the wall first, then turn it on and hit record. You can also cover up the red light with a sticker or something so it can't be seen in the dark. If it has one of those flip open touch screens that light up and show you what you are recording, cover it with a shirt or something. Try doing this right before you go out for a while, so that any noises you hear on the camcorder are noises that are for sure not you upstairs making them.

I would be scared out of my mind sitting down and watching the playback... You just don't have any idea what you will see. What will you do if you actually see a person? Sorry you are going through this... How stressful!
I really hope you don't move before you actually get to the bottom of this. It would keep me up at night and I would think about it for the rest of my life, wondering and wondering and never knowing what on earth it ever could have been lol.

I wish I could find a person in the house or see someone in the video! Then I would know who/what has been causing all the disturbances in the house. And I definitely know how to handle a person. I'd much rather it be a person than a demon or something along those lines.

It might just be too long of a video. I am trying to e-mail it to my sister and I have to create a drop box for it because it is too long. I have no idea what a drop box is. But I told it to create one. We'll see if it works.

My camcorder won't work now. I have used it for a couple of years to record my daycare kids and personal kids with our dogs. I have recorded things on the camcorder, hooked the camcorder up to the computer and put the videos from the camcorder to the computer, then erased the videos from the camcorder so I have more time available on the camcorder. I have done that numerous times. But this time, it won't give me more time on the camcorder!! It says time left: 0min 00 sec and the word Ready in the top corner. Since it says that there is 0 time left, that means that the camcorder is full of videos. So I pushed the button for it to play the videos. But it says Camcorder empty. Then I press the record button and it says Camcorder full. This is WEIRD!!! It did let me erase the 2 videos I made of the basement, but won't let me record again! I noticed earlier and mentioned to my sister that when I first deleted my old videos from the camcorder today, it told me that I had 1 hour and 19 minutes of recording time available. Then I put the recorder in the basement. It turned off somehow at 24 minutes and 25 seconds. Then I copied that video to my computer and erased it from the camcorder. So my camcorder available time should have gone back to 1 hour and 19 minutes, but it only went to 53 minutes and some amount of seconds. I noticed that fact, but didn't really pay it much attention. I thought it was weird, but was more worried about watching the video than figuring out why the available recording time was not correct. Now, however, after getting a second recording of the basement that lasted 49minutes and 43 seconds - The recorder said it had 53 minutes and some amount of seconds left. Why did it stop recording at 49 minutes and 43 seconds instead of keep recording til the full 53 minutes and whatever amount of seconds that the recorder said it had left of recording time?

Then I plugged the flip video camcorder up to my computer like I always do and copied the video onto my computer, then I erased the video off of the camcorder, which now should be empty of videos and should give me 1 hour and 19 minutes of recording time again, but it says that the recording time available is 0 min 00sec and that the camcorder is empty. If it is empty, it should have 1 hour and 19 minutes of recording time available!!

Yeah, this is really freaking me out. I have used this camcorder for a couple of years and this has never happened!

Before I video taped the second video, I went and bought new batteries. Since it has told me it is empty but there is no recording time left, I have turned it on and off a couple of times and have taken the batteries out a couple of times.

Thank you. I am actually scared to death! I just can't afford to move and have to put up a good front for my daughter. She's scared enough on her own. I can't let her know how terrified I am! I really just wish I could move! Out of curiosity, I would like to know who or what is in this house. But I would love to move out tonight!! Honestly, right now at 1:22 in the morning, if someone told me that they have a U-Haul out front and a home I can move to, I'd be throwing my junk in the truck right this minute! I can let someone else find out who or what is here and they can tell me about it later!

Childminder and Tehck_1013,

There's no connector to plug it in to the wall. It only works on batteries. It allows 1 hour and 19 minutes of total video taping time. I have used it for the entire length of time at once before and used the entire length of time up throughout one day. The things that it is doing tonight are weird and have never happened before.

Okay, I think I just told it to post the video on youtube. It says that it will be shown here http://youtu.be/215LNFl7Oe8 after it finishes processing. It is taking a very long time!

I video taped the view of me walking down the basement steps, the walls, ceiling, and floor of the basement. Then I put the camcorder on top of my clothes washer and went back upstairs. The noise you hear at first are of me going back upstairs, locking the basement door, putting the big bag of toys in front of the door (so if someone opens the door, I'll hear the bag of toys rattle!) Then I took my dog and myself out for a little over an hour. The noises that you hear after about 5 minutes are all after the house was empty. No one (that I know of) was in the house from about 5 minutes on to the end of the video.

The video is 49 mins and 43 seconds long. You are looking at a random cement wall with the air conditioner and water heater in front of the camera. I just sat the camera on top of my washing machine. The view is not exciting. You don't see anything strange in the video. For the most part, the video is quiet, but there are some noises that I think sound like movement, footsteps, metal scraping, and a light switch being turned on/off. It started raining during the video. I think the rain is what you start hearing around 36 minutes. There is a loud sound at 38:40. I'm not quite sure what that is. I am wondering if that might be the sump pump working due to the rain. But I know nothing about sump pumps, I am completely guessing. If you know whether that sounds like a sump pump or not, please let me know.

I might be completely wrong, maybe these are normal basement noises, but they just don't sound like it to me. Please listen, if the video works, and let me know what you think about the noises.

Oh, and I made sure to turn off the air conditioner before I left the house, so the noises are not from the air conditioner.

Thank you all for your support and concern. I truly am scared out of my mind here, but have no money to leave and have been trying to figure out what is causing these noises and weird shadows for almost two years, but can never find anyone or anything that would be causing it.

I can't believe I watched the whole video but I have been reading this post since it started. There are a few sounds about a half hour in that would have made me run out of the house. What is that sound at 38:40 minute mark? Do you ever hear noises THAT loud when you are home? I'm not sure of the layout of your home but if there is a window in the basement I would make a point to not set up the flip cam one day and pretend to leave and watch through the window. I would also consider calling an exterminator. They could see where walls may be loose And maybe do a bugbomb

Hope,

I'm not sure, but the sound at 38:40 might be my sump pump turning on. I don't know if you read the description of the video or not, but I wrote that in the description. However, I don't know what sump pumps sound like. Do you know if the sound could be my sump pump?

I have watched through my windows numerous nights, at different times of the night - just for up to 10 minutes or so. I keep waiting for a neighbor to call the police on me when I do that! :lol I also very often, especially when coming home late at night, drive down my back alley, stop at my house, and look in my windows of the basement and each floor of the house for a few minutes. When I leave my house and when I arrive back home, I often also sit out front and look through the windows before I get out of my car. I have never seen anything or anyone when I check on the house from outside.

Since I do daycare and allow many different families into my home (who might bring bugs along with them), I typically have Terminex service my home. Up until maybe 2 months ago, I had Terminex come on a routine basis (every couple of months) for a little over a year. I had to stop the service because my ex said he would pay them, and did, until the last couple of months. Then he kept forgetting to pay them. I didn't ask them to look for anything weird with my walls (false walls or loose walls), but they never said anything was wrong with or weird about my walls.

If you search for sounds of sump pumps...you will find other videos on Youtube that show the sound one makes....

The weird sound at 38:40 DOES sound like the sump pump.

Also for those of you who don't have time to listen to the whole thing, I just queued the video and fast forwarded to the time I wanted to listen to...I didn't have to listen to the whole video just to get to that part.

There are a lot of bumping sounds, which could be something, an animal, maybe in your vents running around..could also be air/gases settling in the vents? But, there is also a sound at one point that sounds like a light switch and after a bump, like a box moving around, it totally sounds like shuffling feet for a second.

Edited to say= light switch or a lighter...

I don't have a sump pump so I can't say but that sound is loud!! Do you hear it upstairs? Does is usually turn on within 5 mins of rain? Definitely a lot of little shuffly and vague sounds but nothing obvious but the possible sump pump sound.

No, I never hear that noise upstairs. I have never heard that noise before. I just assume it might be the sump pump because it was raining. But honestly, I have no idea if rain has anything to do with the sump pump. I need to research what a sump pump is. I have been in the basement numerous times, but have never heard the sump pump turn on. I have no idea what it sounds like.

I just posted this on the update for this thread and thought I would post it here as well. I really didn't mean to start conversations on the update thread. I just wanted to let everyone know that I had posted the video, but I meant for the conversation to continue on this original thread.

Anyway, this is what my sister and her ex said about the video....

My sister and her ex-husband (who used to live in an old townhouse like mine) watched the video and think that the noises are all a mix between the pipes, water heater, and the neighbors moving about in their home.

But that still doesn't explain my daughter's furniture being moved in the basement overnight, her seeing a person walking toward her in the middle of the night when she had her bedroom in the basement, me feeling the pressure of someone sitting on my bed, my younger daughter feeling someone shake her arm to wake her up, me seeing red eyes and orange eyes in my hallway overnight, my front house door occasionally being unlocked in the morning, the front door being unlocked and opened about an inch after we know we closed it and locked it when we left the house, food being missing, things being moved on counters/shelves, a loaf of bread showing up out of nowhere, the strange shadows that we have all seen and my daughter distinctly hearing a female (that was not me or my younger daughter) call her dog by his name and tell him that he was okay twice in a row.

I might not have caught it on this video, but something or someone is in this house.

Now, my sister's ex lived in houses like mine years ago, but I owned a house exactly like this one about 10 years ago and I don't remember hearing noises like the ones on the video. And I know I never heard noises like the ones that have made me run out of my house in the middle of the night and sleep in my car!

So I'm not 100% sure that I agree with my sister's ex.

PV, I'm sorry you're dealing with this! I have lived with a haunting, myself, so I know what you're going through. Well...kind of. Mine was not exactly the same, and we didn't have a potential human intruder, but still. Your daughter is not the only person to have been woken in the night like that!

Item #1: CAMERAS!

Item #2: Get somebody to go through your entire house, attic included, to investigate.I know you don't have a lot of money (something I understand all too well), but as soon as you can get some together (or borrow from someone, anyone!) you should get a home inspector or a contractor to come out and look for anything that might allow someone to come and go...secret entrances, false walls, etc. etc. Anything. They also need to check that uncapped gas thing. Maybe you know someone whose son or sister-in-law or whatever does something like that and you could get a discount. You never know. Just find SOMEONE. Did you say there are old boxes up in the attic? Bonus points if you can get a teen up there to get the boxes out and pitch them.

Item #3: Did you say your preacher won't bless your house? Find someone who will bless your house (or whatever). Like, yesterday. Frankly I think you should just smudge the crap out of your house, but if you're not comfortable with that, get someone else in there to do something you ARE comfortable with, ASAP.

Item #4: start writing these things down. Get a notebook and make note of EVERY weird thing you see/hear, with the date and time. Especially as it pertains to things like your door being unlocked/open, bread mysteriously appearing, food disappearing, etc.-- things that would point to a person, rather than a spirit. You might even want to color code somehow, like write all the potentially supernatural stuff in blue ink and all the stuff that indicates a real human in red. You might even want to note when you talk to the house and tell "it" to knock it off. That way, after a while you might be able to look back and see a pattern. Would that be useful? Maybe. How? I don't know. It might show you that this person, if there is one, is more active at the end of the month, or on Tuesdays, or something, and that might give you a little clue. Who knows. Can't hurt, right?

Also, next time you notice an uptick in activity that makes you think its a person, pay attention to your shower/s. If this person is in need of food, they may also be in need of a shower, you know? I can't think of any good ways to booby trap it so you'd know if it had been used, but someone else might have some ideas. Maybe the toilet, too.

Item #5: Get in touch with local paranormal investigators. These are not typically people who want to play with spirits for fun; they are generally people who honestly want to help you find out what's going on. They might have some good tips for you. If activity picks up again, see if you can get them to come out and investigate your house. This is often helpful, rather than harmful. They're not satanic or anything.

Can you get rid of your daughter for a few days this summer? Send her to visit a friend, or stay with an aunt or her sister for a few days? Band camp? Something? That would give you some time to do things. I would try to ship her off, then while she is gone, have the paranormal investigators in [if necessary], then the home inspector/hidey-hole finder/brave box removing teens, and finally a clergy person of some kind to bless your house (in as quick a succession as you can). (Or bless it yourself, you might be able to find some Christian resources on this on the internet somewhere.)

Good luck. This is nuts!

Duchess Ravenwaves,

I haven't thought to write everything down. I'm more of a talker than a note taker. I'm sure it would be helpful to keep a written record of everything. Like you said, I might be able to see a pattern which might help me catch whoever/whatever it is. So far, everything seems random, but if I write it down, I might notice that it's on certain days of the week or dates of the month.

My preacher didn't say he would not bless the house, and I didn't ask him to bless the house. Blessing the house didn't come up at all. I told him what has been going on here and he told me to strengthen my faith. Honestly, I have never particularly felt a connection with this preacher. I really liked and connected with our old preacher. But he moved a couple of years ago.

Regarding the home inspector idea, I don't own this house, I rent. And I absolutely hate (I don't use that word often) the landlord. He is a slumlord and obviously thinks woman are lower than dirt. He is very rude, disrespectful, demeaning, etc. to me. But he's nice with my ex-husband - who doesn't even live here! So, I can't hire any professional company to inspect the house without getting my landlord involved. I'd rather deal with Satan himself than my landlord!

I'm going to have to get someone to get the boxes out of the attic for me.

Thank you for your ideas and suggestions. I plan to put the camcorder in the basement tonight. I 'll let everyone know if I capture anything on it.

My daughter has her last school day and her last set of final exams tomorrow. I am trying to wait until she gets out of school before I get too hot and heavy with going through the house and getting cameras (when and if I can ever afford them). I want her to be able to get well rested each night so she can do as best as possible on her finals. Tomorrow's her last day of school. After tomorrow, I'm planning to hit this mess head on!

It's been quite some time since anything has been posted. What's going on?

I have a few thoughts...if it's not too late.

1. Since nothing has been posted in many months this has all been made up.
2. It's your landlord or neighbor.
3. It's someone else all together...a stalker.

Now, what to do about it...
1. Go to Menards, Fleet Farm, Home Depot, Lowes or WalMart and get door alarms. They stick with double sided tape to both the door and the frame and when the 2 parts are separated a loud annoying whistle goes off. (I use it to alarm my classroom door from toddlers sneaking out.) They are under $10 for a set of 3. Put them on all the windows and closet doors and the basement door. Give everyone a pellet or a paint gun and stand watch at the alarmed windows, doors. When the alarms go off, take aim and shoot.

2. Get some cameras. Set some delicious baked goods on the counter and announce you are going to the store now. Head out the door, but not really. Wait for the action with a camera and a paint or pellet gun. When you see the intruder, take aim and shoot with the gun...not the camera. Pics come later.

Things were happening almost nightly for a while and then they just stopped. They tend to happen for a while and then abruptly stop and then for no apparent reason start again. Nothing has happened for a while until the last week of March. I’ll write about that in a minute.

I did write a thread entitled ‘Haunted House Issues Again on 7/16/14. On 6/11/14 I posted a thread entitled ‘ Update on Someone in my House Video of my Basement Noises”. I posted about a video that I had put on Youtube from my camcorder in the basement. And on 6/13/14, under the title ‘Paranormal Experiences’, I wrote about previous things as well as things that have happened in this house.

In June, just before I posted the thread with the Youtube video, I had put my camcorder in different rooms for a few nights and never caught anything or anyone. I heard noises on it, but never caught a person or animal that might be the cause of the noises. I bought those little door chimes from Walmart and put them on all the doors. But they never went off unless one of my family members was opening a door.

When I was posting about the noises and things being moved and the food wrappers in the basement, etc. I put baby powder all over the floor and on the top of the furniture in the basement. I checked it daily and didn't see any footprints or animal tracks for a while. Then about a month ago, I had an alarm system installed from ADT security (because of the friends of the girl across the street trying to break in) and when the installer and I went to the basement, I saw animal tracks in the powder on the desk by the back door. Neither one of us know what type of animal paw prints they are though.

Then, one day during the last week of March, 2015, something happened that I can’t begin to explain. I went out back to take trash out. I literally cannot lock my back door knob from the outside nor can I lock it and then close it. So I literally CANNOT lock myself out of the back door. The door handle on the back door does not lock. In order to lock the back door, you must be inside and lock the deadbolt and then there is a flip lock thing like they have on hotel doors. But both of those can only be locked from the inside.
Anyway, so I took trash out back and then when I went to go back into the house, I was locked out! I could not open the door! I knew that my front door was locked, but I went around front in hopes it wasn't locked, but it was. I pulled the screen off the front window and tried to open the window, but since it was locked, I couldn't open it. So I went back to the back door and tried to open the door a few times, knowing that there is no way the handle could have locked. I wound up throwing myself into the door a few times to break the door open! I have absolutely no idea how the door handle locked me out. It does NOT lock!!! So, that was extremely freaky and scared me. I tried to figure out how my door locked me out for days. I also thought that maybe someone was inside the house holding the door shut. But when I broke the door open, I didn't see anyone running away from the door. I looked through the house to see if someone was inside that might have held the door shut and I didn't find anyone.

But I didn't type about it on here. I guess with all the stuff going on with the people across the street – their friends trying to break in which lead to me borrowing my ex-husband’s gun and buying other weapons, staying up until at least 3 am every night to do my best to be awake and alert in case they tried to break in again. The attempted break in led to my daughter being too afraid to sleep here and she started sleeping at her dad’s for almost 2 weeks which made her forget to take her medicine that whole time which led to her trying to commit suicide (a side effect of abruptly stopping to take the medicine) which led to me quitting my part-time job because that’s where I was when I got the call about her trying to commit suicide and I just emotionally cannot be in that same location again right now. I tried to, but I kept having flashbacks of the entire scene from that day that I got the call. But there’s so much other crap going on right now that I didn't write about the house locking me out.

Other than the house locking me out in March, nothing has happened here for a few months. I guess, from my researching when I was posting about it, I guess nothing has happened since July. Which is really nice!

Now, if we could somehow get the neighbors across the street to move away, that would help. Well, actually, I still would rather that I be able to move. But, I'm stuck in this area until June of next year when my daughter graduates from high school. Then I hope to be able to move to a nice, safe area and into a nice, quiet home!

We don't eat sandwiches much at all. One day, my younger daughter went into the kitchen and came right back out and asked me where this loaf of bread came from (because she knew it wasn't the brand I buy). I said, "What loaf of bread? We don't have any bread." She said, "The loaf of bread on the shelf!" So I went to the kitchen, and there it sat! A brand new loaf of bread! Who put the loaf of bread on my pantry shelf?

See, it's random weird stuff that happens here. Sometimes, it seems like spirits/ghosts/demons such as the red eyes, feeling someone sit on the bed, my daughter feeling someone shake her arm, and no one is there. Other times it seems like people such as when food is missing, we actually hear people whispering, or a loaf of bread appears in the pantry.
Me and my younger daughter would've moved in with my older daughter and her boyfriend a hour away a long long time ago. As a matter of fact I would've moved after the first night when I was hearing the noise

I don't have the money to move. My ex-husband doesn't want me move my younger daughter to a new school. If I try to, I really do think he will take me to court and try to get the court to force me to keep her in her current school. I don't know if he would win in court, but I don't want to go through all that. I actually agree with him that she should not switch high schools. She doesn't want to move to a new school. I don't want to move her to a new school. I moved once when my older daughter was in high school. I called both schools to make sure that the curriculum was about the same so it wouldn't mess up her classes and high school credits if we moved. Both schools told me the move wouldn't mess up her credits and all. But, of course, it did. I don't want to mess up my younger daughter's credits and classes.

I would love to move to another house in the same school district, but I can't afford to move and my ex won't pay for us to move. Basically, I'm stuck in this area until my younger daughter graduates high school. And, even after she graduates, unless my landlord kicks me out, I'm stuck in this house until I can afford to move myself. My ex refuses to pay to move us. He has, though, offered to allow my (well, our) younger daughter to move in with him and his girlfriend. But my daughter refuses to move in with them. He had been physically, mentally, and emotionally abusive to me in front of her and mentally and emotionally abusive and threatened physical abuse to her her entire life until she was about 14 years old. He has been abusive towards his girlfriend the entire time he's been with her after he and I split up. His girlfriend is equally abusive to him. His girlfriend makes it quite obvious that she doesn't like my daughter. So, it makes perfect sense to me that she has no desire to move in with them. My ex actually said, "You're telling me that she'd rather keep living in a house that she's afraid of than move in with me?!?" I had to tell him, 'Yes, she'd rather live in a house that scares her than live with you." Needless to say, he wasn't happy about that. Personally, I still don't understand how he can be so mean and abusive and be completely clueless as to why his kids don't want much to do with him. Anyway... So, we just have to keep living here. I can't afford to move.

I truly hope everything works out for you. After reading this post yesterday morning I was scared to go to sleep lastnight. My dh works graveyard so that didn't help either. It reminded me of paranormal activity so I kept expecting Toby to come strolling in my room from the hallway.

PV, with all due respect, I've seen in several of your posts where you talk about how your ex won't pay for you to move. I am not divorced, but why would he have to pay for you to move?

He has offered for your daughter to move in with him. She is his responsibility and he is willing to take care of her. She chooses not to move in with him.

Maybe I'm just not seeing it, but how is he responsible to pay for you to move?

I am not in your situation, and I'm sure it is frustrating. You have a few reasons for not moving, but your ex really has nothing to do with you moving IMO. He will fulfill his obligation to his daughter, but he has no obligation to you. Honestly I don't see why you would want him to either. I've read your posts about how he was abusive and controlling. Why would you want to give him any control over you, or even for him to feel like he has control?

CraftyMom,

I don't have the money to move. He has plenty of money. I'm not saying that it's his responsibility to pay for us to move, I'm saying that I can't afford to move. The only way we (my daughter and I ) could move is if he paid for it. It's simply that I can't afford to move. I would love to move, but I can't afford to. The only chance we have of getting out of this home is if my ex paid to move us.

Girlwitrims,

Thank you. Yeah, things get a little weird here sometimes. Thankfully nothing's happened for a while other than the door locking me out of the house.

Now, my concern is more about the people across the street from me. A couple of nights ago, the homeowner was arguing with some people at about 1 am. Then he yelled, "Get my shotgun!". I looked out the window and saw him walking in his yard with his shotgun! The people that he was arguing with had gotten in their car and were starting to drive off while he was walking in his yard with his shotgun.

And now, my daughter who is graduating from college and her boyfriend have broken up. They live together. He has agreed to let her keep living in their apartment until she graduates so she has a place to live while finishing school. But right after she graduates, she will be moving in my house.

Hi there PV. Man I sat here and read this entire thread! I am not a consistent poster to this forum but reading this really made me want to post.

first off, this really sounds like a ghost/demon to me. Things appearing and reappearing is not at all uncommon in these situations. I used to belong to a paranormal group and we would definitely run into things like this. Hearing noises, being locked out - very very common. I would take others advice here and reach out to a paranormal group. They will be as discreet as possible.

Have you actually tried talking to the spirit? Sometimes all they want is acknowledgement. Tell them you realize they are here but this is your space too, things like turning locks and rattling furniture is scaring you and your daughters. Ask that they leave or quit the scare tactics. You might be surprised how the atmosphere will change.

I find it very odd that the Catholic priest said they don't bless houses or do exorcism anymore. If I were you I'd see if there are any sspx or fssp chapels in your area and ask them for help. These branches of the church practice the Latin rite and are way more traditional (and serious about ghosts and demons) than others may be.

Good luck! I will be following this post for sure.

So i read half the thread last night and woke up and couldnt go back to sleep haha but i had to finish it. My little boy has done/ said really weird things to me ever since we started moving my grandparents things into our home ( they went into assisted living) and everytime we brought something in, he would wake up screaming pointing to the corner or just recently asked who was standing behind me (YIKES) it was just the two of us in the house, then he pointed at something above us and yelled " right there mommy right there" we started slowly taking their things to them as they have been moved to a bigger room, thank the lord!!!

i hope you can move soon or get it figured out, Hang in there

Have you considered it might be a Poltergeist? They aren't really ghosts per-se but made up of the crazy psychic energy that children create and they can sometimes take a 'physical form' that can appear human. If the energy is from your own children it would explain why the dog doesn't really react. Poltergeist experiences include: objects disappearing/re appearing after a while, noises, voices, things being moved around, shadows...basically everything you've been describing.

I had considered every possible thing I could consider. I was positive it was a supernatural thing of some sort. I wasn't sure whether it was a ghost, demon, poltergeist, or what. I researched all sorts of different supernatural creatures/concepts. But I was positive it was something of the spiritual world. That is until food went missing out of my cabinets and empty, used fast food wrappers were on my basement floor. Then I started believing that a person was somehow getting in and out of my house without me knowing it.

I still have no idea what caused all of those noises, shadows, missing food, fast food wrappers appearing on my basement floor, my house door locking me out of the house when I KNOW that specific door handle does NOT lock, the front door being unlocked when I arrived back home from an outing when I KNOW I had locked it when I left, etc.. I have no idea what caused any of that.

All that I do know is that everything stopped happening. I really don't even know when it all stopped. Since things would happen for a few days and then not happen for a while; days or weeks would go by with nothing happening and then things would start up again. Then at some point, I realized that it had been WEEKS since anything has happened. Now, nothing weird has happened here for MONTHS now and I am quite happy about that!

Now, my older daughter and her dog have been living in my basement since the beginning of the summer. So if it was a person who was somehow sneaking in and out of my basement, I guess by my daughter and her dog being in the basement, that person certainly wouldn't be able to sneak in and out undetected.

But honestly, the weird shadows, noises, and red eyes I saw floating down my hallway a few different nights, I truly don't believe could have been done by a regular person. I don't know who or what was in my house. I'm just glad everything's stopped for a while and I hope it NEVER starts up again!!

Yup, all this sounds like a poltergeist...the can come and go based on the emotional stability of the child who is creating it. If you were going through anything stressful during those time (other than seeing/hearing weird stuff) either your kids or yourself then I would chalk it up to a poltergeist. Once children lose the stress the poltergeist go away. Also, poltergeist ARE known to 'bring' items into the home...people will find things in their homes that they didn't bring in such as things like wrappers, etc. I don't know how but the reports (so many that you can't really deny them) say that this is also a common experience. I'm glad to hear its quieted down, just reading it freaked me out but I've experienced things like this my entire life. When we lived in the UK I used to see all kinds of weird things and my mom always told me it was b/c our family was 'gifted' in that way.
