The banshee neighborhood children are playing with fake guns (not sure which I like less... The kids or playing with guns...). Anyone have a BB gun so I can play too?? Hahaha

I'm sure she is joking, but I don't find this funny AT ALL. Plus, her own kid is the FIRST one to make guns out of everything, blocks, sticks, rulers, etc.

That's kind of public for such a statement, especially since her FB friends and family probably know who she's talking about and could cause some feuds when word gets around.
Kids are going to pretend anything and everything is a gun but I would take strong offense at her words about the kids, calling them banshees and whether she likes them less or not, than the gun playing.

If she's saying things like that in such plain view she wants you to see how much she hates you and what you "allow" to take place on your watch. Guarantee she's been saying far worse behind your back for quite sometime.

I'd confront her firmly face to face and give notice to term (if not make it effectively immediately). People like this WILL hurt your repuation which will directly affect your business. Cut all ties so she is forced to move onto someone else to snark about.

If this is a DCM is she talking about HER neighborhood kids or is she referring to YOUR child care kids?

Either way, her post is inappropriate but I'd handle it differently depending on WHO she is actually referring to....kwim?

I'd almost consider reporting it as asking if anyone has a BB gun so she can play too would be considered somewhat threatening in my neck of the woods.

I know this wasnt about me. I dont allow gun play, killing, that kind of thing. She has vented to me before about her neighbors kids who are 3, 6, & 9 allowed to play outside unsupervised and supposedly taught her kid that type of play. He has to be redirected from guns/youre dead style play more often than any other child.

Neighbor kids, but I want to address it anyway. It does seem like a threat to me & she really dislikes those boys.

Yeah, that is really NOT funny at all!

I'd say something to her as well.

I also despise parents who try to blame their child's actions on others. Just because someone else does something doesn't mean it's their fault when your kid does it too.... She needs to teach her child to be responsible for HIS choices.

Of course, with the attitude she has, her post will be someone else's fault and not at all hers...

We are ALL responsible for our own actions...

Oh I'm sure that's how the conversation is going to go. No matter WHAT her child does (and the child is super well behaved in general, but even normal kid things like taking toys) she says "Oh he doesn't do that at home. He must have learned it here, or maybe it was his cousin _____ she does that all of the time!" Well, he is an only child, so he can't take toys at home and of COURSE his cousin does that, she's under 2. This is me

A little off topic but I cannot get these boys to stop making everything into guns!

My jaw dropped open when a dcb used a toy as a gun and "killed" himself the other day!

The superhero thing,I get. The guns,I don't.

Are their parents, or parents friends, "gamers"???

Kids see more on those screens as they pass through than most people think they do.

As for the DCM in the OP, I'd likely remind her that her post can be construed as Terroristic Threat and if she were a public school student, she'd already have had a visit by now..... The double standard is astounding.

Did you hit the "Report Post" button?

Good point. His Dad may be, he seems like a big child. I KNOW he watches inappropriate movies. He told me they saw 2 guns this weekend. Jeez.

It has taken some of my kids MONTHS to STOP playing guns. I allow water guns, but any talk of killing/death and they are gone. I am a gun safety advocate, I own firearms, I am a sharpshooter and just applied for my pistol permit so that I will feel safer running in the evenings (a mom of 3 was just abducted and is missing while out jogging recently in my area). So I am NOT anti gun. I am, however, anti violence in children and it astounds me when there is SO MUCH of it.

I have the same issue when new kids come in (or there is a vacation, or they played with dad, etc) right back to guns. I had to take away several different kinds of blocks because they were solely used to make guns with. Sticks, fingers, pinecones, etc are all guns to this particular dcb, too! It's been 4 months and I am seeing ZERO improvement so it has to be being reinforced as ok somewhere. If it isn't here, it HAS to be home!

I wish I could make it stop, completely, for all of my kids.
