Awesome! I have 6 kids right now, all playing with the empty christmas lights cardboard boxes this very second. So far they have used them as blocks, played santa, wrapped and unwrapped "presents," built towers, made skis, and more. It is amazing how their creativity is blossoming with just a simple box.

I often give them large cardboard boxes to play with whenever I can, and find that these hold their attention for long periods of time, while boosting their creativity.

I did this two years ago for a week before Christmas. I had just recyclable materials, cardboard boxes, tubes, etc. The only real toy that I kept in were balls. I even took out the books and we spent the week beforehand making our own books. The kids really didn't mind AT ALL that we didn't have toys and really enjoyed themselves and played in ways that they had never played before. I did this with a group that was young, mostly 2.5-3 yrs old.

I think you should do it! It was a great experience and the parents really loved it, too.

Oh, I am so glad you chimed in because I immediately thought of you when this thread was posted yesterday and wondered if I could find the thread but couldn't. Of course, now that you mentioned the timeline, I found it immediately! https://www.daycare.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23932

I remember thinking how cool (and brilliant ) the idea was/is!!
