Seeing the flu shot post reminded me of this.

I guess the mayor of Boston has declared a State of Emergency because of the flu!

I actually saw this on GMA or one of those this morning. There are only four states that haven't been put into high alert for this and mine was one of them.

It was like Wa, Or, Iowa, and one other but can't remember it. The are urging to get the shot here though because it is hitting really hard but not enough to make the list though.

Im afraid to this flu...OMG

I am sitting here thinking that I will need to come up with some new policies and rules.

Like checking each child for temp and wellness even more when they arrive.

I already ask the parents to do this, but a lot of them don't....would you feel offended if I said I was going to take your childs temp each morning and access them for the flu each morning? It is to help keep everyone safe...

Here's the map of what I was trying to explain.

I guess its more like 13 that aren't quite bad but on high alert.

I live in MA, and the flu here is really bad this year. I don't/can't get the flu shot, and neither do my children. It is SO scary, with all the people coming and gong all day. AND, I only take teacher's kids, so they are bringing in all of the germs from their classrooms with them.

The worst part is, I really don't trust the parents in regards to illness. I hear all the time about "He just has a cold, no fever" and "He seems a little congested but is otherwise fine." I have a strict sick policy, but we all know about the drug and dump situations. I check temperatures all day long, and we have anti-bacterial out all day, and hands are washed, toys cleaned, etc. But WOW, it is scary!

My little one got the flu the weekend before last but he had a flu shot so it was nothing more than a cold with a high fever. So glad he got the flu shot!! The doctor said it would have been much worse without. My husband got a flu shot too.. I better go get one too.

I had the flu, and it is miserable. I didn't get the flu shot. But, I am hearing that it doesn't matter if you got it or not. Doesn't seem to make a difference. Just make sure you get plenty of rest if you do get it. My youngest and I both had it, and it was miserable. My little guy had it for about 3 days, and I had it bad for almost a week.

My state (MN) has had 27 flu related deaths already.

I guess we have been the hardest hit.
