Daycare Menus, Breakfast, Lunch and Snack Ideas>What Is - The Favorite Lunch You Serve?
nikia 09:03 AM 01-12-2011
The favorite lunch you serve? The one that has all the kids clean their plates and never have any complaints?

Here it is homemade bbq beef, rolls, green beans and apples. Or meatloaf with the same fruit, veggie and roll.

ew meatloaf....haha sorry never been a fan.

MAC AND CHEESE! what else!
The kids had 3 bowls each yesterday I was shocked.

I do different versions of this, Mac noodles with Real cheddar cheese cubed and then melted on, OR cheese whiz melted on with milk to cream it up a bit, OR velveeta cheese melted on. All work. Yesterdays was velveeta, but I definitely prefer the real cheddar cheese.

In the US cheezwhiz and velveeta are not considered cheese, they contain less than 50% actual cheese and are not an allowable food source for the food program.

My kids favorite...

Scrambled eggs (cage free organic) with cheddar cheese and homemade tomato salsa, whole wheat toast, and fresh mixed fruit (seasonal) with a dollop of organic vanilla yogurt.

Mine love any type of the breakfast for lunch meals and homemade mini pizza's on english muffins. Alot of mine don't care much for mac 'n cheese because they are so over loaded on it at home.

I'm in Canada so : P lol, jk.

Lots of my parents do bring lunches for their kids and snacks. They prefer to for whatever reason, so it's mainly my kids. But when I make something for lunch, the daycare kids always get the choice to eat what I make or what their parents make. Often they choose my food! lol. And honestly, OFTEN my food is healthier than what the parents send.

These guys will eat pretty much anything but the things we don't get very often are the most popular. They love phesant and white fish like waleye, bass, hake, trout, scallops, and halibut.

I guess my guys current favorite meal is grilled salmon, zucchini & squash (sliced longways in a tin foil pouch with a bit of olive oil on the grill), with cheesy sourdough rolls. (seasonal)

Their close second is chicken/broccoli/cauliflower penne with white cheddar sauce, silver queen creamed corn, and buttered garlic/onion loaf.

I personally LOVE any meal that starts with "grilled" since it means it was my DH's day to do the cooking I am fortunate that he loves to cook, unfortunate that he manages to use 11 pots to boil teabags.

Plain old baked chicken with rice and broccoli is usually gobbled up around here. I have a very young, very picky group. The ones who have been with me the longest/from the youngest age tend to be the easiest eaters. The newer ones and the ones who came to me at an older age are MUCH pickier.

Hi I am new here. But thought I would share what is a favorite in my home daycare.

It is a simple meal but always goes over well.

1 can cream chicken soup & bag egg noodles, 1 bullion cube enough water to cover noodles cook till noodles are soft. Sometimes I have added slices of american cheese but not all the time.

Served with a vege and fruit.

I have to admit pancakes or french toast are the biggest hit here, no matter what meal.

As far as traditional "lunches", so far meatloaf is the big winner, or meatballs.

Anything breakfast for lunch - eggs, french toast, pancakes

Taquitos - there is something about food rolled up that they love. I usually make them with diced peppers, spinach and cheese and serve them with rice and a veggie side.

Chicken or beef stew with sourdough bread.

Baked pasta - I use a basic marinara and mix in a container of cottage cheese. Toss with cooked pasta and bake until bubbly.

1.Chicken Rice Alfredo, Instant Brown Rice, Alfredo Sauce, Cream of Chicken, Bacon Bits, Chicken (chunked), broccoli. I either bake this or put in crock pot until the rice is tender. Be sure that you add either water or milk to have enough moisture for the rice.

2. Easy Nachos, In one pan, I use a big can of refried beans, black beans, diced tomatoes, shredded chicken pork or hamburger (whatever I have pre cooked in the freezer.) taco seasoning, and cheese. Let it all melt together and serve over chips... I can have lunch ready in under 10 minutes. Sometimes I add a can of corn as well. I offer sour cream to those who want it!

3. I do a Taco soup they love as well.. Its all cans from the pantry so its easy to throw together either ahead in the crock pot or at last minute as well. Black beans, Kidney beans, white beans, navy beans, pinto beans etc.. Petite diced tomatoes, Tomato puree, corn, green beans, olives and taco seasoning. I top it with a touch of cheese and serve with corn bread or garlic bread.

4. I also make a Lasagna casserole which is easy and kids make less mess than regular lasagna. Whole wheat penne, spaghetti sauce, diced tomatoes, cottage cheese, hamburger, shredded cheese. This also can be made early, then popped in the oven, or in the crock pot... but be sure to spray your pan/crock pot with non stick spray for easier clean up.

5. Sloppy Joes here always have finely diced green zucchini and yellow squash, by the time you add tomato sauce, spices, and ground beef/turkey the kids don't realize how many veggies they are eating!

Mine love red beans and rice. It is made with kidney beans, vegetables and turkey sausage and poured on top of brown rice.

They also love anything with pasta of course. I love pasta dishes because I put tons of veggies in the sauce (hidden) and use whole wheat pasta noodles.

I also make homemade pizza with whole wheat dough, tomato sauce, Canadian bacon and chopped pineapple.
