Gotta love when a DCD walks in and says, "oh, did DCM tell you about new schedule? I won't be able to get him some days. She gets off at 6 so it'll be a little after then."

DCM works 20 mins away and the main road to my house from her work is the busiest road in the county, during 6 o clock traffic. I close at 6. He said it like it was no big deal like I have nothing better to do with my time. Already work 12 hr days dude, cmon.

I'm telling DCM that wont work for me in the morning during drop off. I close at 6 for a reason. If she'd like to pay me my late fee of $1 per min after 6, I'd gladly stay each day.

Good for you. I get the "oh you close at 5pm? No problem, I get off at 5pm, so I'll be there just 15min later."
Ummm no that is not the same thing lol I have gotten that so many time.

"Just be sure to update your alternate pickup list so whoever you send to get him on those days is authorized to take him. Unless you want to renegotiate our weekly fee. There is a $10-30$) additional fee per day for me to work past 6"

I wouldn't have waited to say it, I would have told dad today and mom in the morning.

That's exactly why DCD said it like it was no big deal like you have nothing better to do with your time...

You didn't correct him so I think you are annoyed with the wrong person

You are working on your backbone
When you change your frame of mind (or your perspective) it becomes super simple every time.

Piggybacking on your title...

Gotta love it when a dcd picks up and says "She dropped them off early enough today, she must not have wanted to deal with them" and the dcd is your son "she" is your daughter in law and "them" are your grandkids.

Go on and get that backbone! It really is okay to say no. It DOES get easier. No one would work later and not get paid, I don't know why parents expect us to! I hope you slap a large fee on that extra 15-30 minutes every time.

If it makes you feel any better, I just got slapped with dcd saying "Did dcm tell you? We are moving to Boston in 2 weeks!" casually... So this is your 2 week notice apparently.

DCMs response was, "Oh I know you close at 6! We are going to work something out, he will never get picked up that late, no worries"

I guess DCD wasn't positive on my closing time (?) And it was unnecessary that he told me about his schedule change. DcM mentioned how she is looking for a job that provides her with early off-time than her current.

Once again, all is well and I stressed out for 12 hours for NO reason!!

I disagree, Miss Kristin.
You ensured their ducks were in nice little rows.
Better to stop a behavior before it even happens. Always.

I agree, I am betting he would have gotten picked up that late.
