Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>If You Haven't Paid Your DC Don't Leave A Receipt For Personal Training In Bag!

I will address this so I don't need advice about that but dcm has not paid me since Jaunary 3rd for care in December. She is over 2 weeks behind but I just found a receipt for $900 worth of personal training visits that she paid for on Jan 9th. You have got to be freaking kidding me!!!

She did nicely bring me a coffee this morning but I'd rather be paid. Plus she has been picking up later than usual because - you guessed it - she is coming after her personal training (but still before my closing time.)

that all depends on what you are getting. I am a PT on the weekends and I charge $125 a session and I have a lot of people who sign up for 12 sessions at a time.

I'd be livid! Altho like pp mentioned, she wouldn't still be here if behind in payments.

Personal trainers are worth every penny they charge!!!
believe me, I love mine! she is mean and nice at the right times and went to many years of school to be specially trained.

But everyone should take care of their daycare tuition first!

For some reason, parents seem to think that their daycare provider should be last on the list of bills to pay. In fact some don't even seem to consider it a bill at all!

I've heard it all over the years.

"I can't pay you today, I had to take care of some bills"

"It's my birthday tomorrow and we're going to Wendover to the casinos. I'll need some cash. Can I pay you next week?" ( look when I said no)

Got a sob story from one mom about how hard up she was and that she would pay me Monday (I was a newbie and bought it) Another daycare mom ratted her out by accident by telling me she had seen the "hard up" mom at the mall over the weekend, who had shown her a $100 bottle of perfume she just "had to have".

One mom told me that I embarrassed her by calling and asking for the payment and that I should wait until it's offered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (She didn't last long)

I've met up with clients at the store over the weekend. Clients who whine about paying their bill and claim they are completely broke. But with a cart full of electronics/snacks/dvd's/booze/toys etc etc.

Now I just let it all go in one ear and out the other.

Pay me on time. No excuses. And absolutely not a second of care without payment.

I sometimes feel guilty as if I am taking food out of their kids' mouths with my fees until I realise that they pay me 35$ a day for 10 hours of care and pay housekeepers (3/5 families have them) 90$ for 3 hours of work.

I will say don't be deceived by full shopping carts, though because unlike Wal-Mart I don't take credit. It is possible they are living well beyond their means.

I actually had one DCF (my first year in this business) who went without heat for a while, BUT ALWAYS paid me! They were one of my BEST clients and we are still friends. I think mainly bc she had done daycare (for friends and family) in the past. Never had a family like this since- made sure I was paid and ON TIME!!

I had one family I assumed had money issues and I let late payments slide 3 times - after the forth time I sent a notice explaining if they needed to discuss other payment arrangements web could do that but if payments weren't made in they current agreed on time frames late fees would start - I was SHOCKED when the mom said she was just forgetting and there were no other issues! I will never assume again and will always apply late fees, I termed the family because they had zero respect for me or my program.

I had one family that (I termed) was one of those "poor me" families. I heard every excuse, but the best one was when she said that the border guards where holding her bank account hostage and they couldn't pay me. But every week she came in with a tan, her nails done and her nice pink streaks in her hair. So dh went and got my money, but we came to find out that she was screwing her landlord too with sob stories. They got evicted and last I heard was they moved 2 more times, are on assistance and scaming the goverment.

I have an awesome family that does not have a TV because they can't afford it, has basic cell phones, always shops at thrift stores, and ALWAYS pays their tuition on time and 4 weeks in advance!

They really love their child and want the best for him...
which is themselves because they spend every waking moment with him instead of on their electronics.

I would send a note home today stating that payments have gone far too past due to continue services.

And offer her these options:

Pay $xx dollars by Monday, $xx dollars in 2 weeks and remaining balance 2 weeks thereafter.

Or pay balance by Monday or no pay, no stay

Failure to comply will result in termination of care immediately!
