What do you do? the parents feed her at home I refuse to feed a 2 year old NO WAY NO HOW will I do it. Is it mean of me to offer the food put the plate in front of her and if she eats she does if not to bad it's nap time?? I am not feeding her this kid is capable.

I regret taking on this part time kid she screams at nap time too ugh!

I don't think you are being mean at all. You offer and, unless she has a medical or legit reason why she can't feed herself, the rest is up to her. You offered! Maybe start by showing her a bit just at first, since her parents do it for her, but then back away and let her do it herself. Laziness does not mean you have to do it for her!

She may not be allowed to feed herself at home. The parents may push her hands down, etc, so that she doesn't make a mess for them to clean up.

I'm with you on the not feeding her, but ask Mom if they encourage self-feeding at home.

I'd ask the parents if she feeds herself at home. If you get a "no" or a wishy-washy answer, I'd clearly explain that all two year olds are expected to feed themselves at daycare. No one wants her to be hungry. So you need their support at home in encouraging her to feed herself.

I would not feed a 2 year old unless they had a medical condition that prevented them from feeding themselves.

I don't feed anyone, actually. I don't do solids until the child is old enough to eat finger foods.

Spoon feeding is just something I do not have time for. Nor do I think it's necessary.

I had the same situation in February. He learned by day two, “It picks up the food and eats or goes hungry.”

Day 3 he was eating.

Mom said its because she's shy so she wont feed her self just stares at the plate of food.
Shy has nothing to do with it . They feed her at home and they rock her to sleep too. She is 2 not a baby people. They tried to tell me that she is mentally a 3yr old I think not!

You might google and get a 2-year-old milestones checklist and go through it checking off what you have seen demonstrated. Send it home with them. It will help them get on the same page as far as expectations for a 2-year-old.
