Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Wait We Are Supposed To Prep Them For College NOW?
GotKids 07:21 AM 05-16-2012
Saw this on Craigslist:
Now taking interviews for my daycare!
Low caregiver to child ratio! Never more than five children enrolled at a time!
Safe and clean home with a large wood fenced in back yard! Lots of educational toys and imagination play!
Next to a park! We play outside everyday weather permitting!
Flexible hours!
Happily married mother of two young children.
Daily preschool ciriculum followed as well as new art projects everyday!! Learning activites are personalized for where your child is currently at.
Every week we learn how to read as well as exploring colors, shapes, math, science, phonics, writing, horticulture, cooking, alphabet, Spanish, speech and much more! Truly a college prep daycare!
The children have "gym class" everyday either outside or inside where we stretch and do fun exercises!
Music time everyday consists of making our own instruments and also playing real instruments, learning how to read notes and scales. We also have musical experession time where we dance and sing to our favorite songs!
Children are treated with respect, patience and love and we do positive reinforcement and redirection! Children are praised and encouraged throughout the day.
We work on potty training and learning fun potty training songs and track our progress with stickers!
We do not watch television because we are too busy learning and playing!
Low rates and sibling discounts! Only $120 a week for infants and only $100 a week for toddlers on up!***********
Organic fresh and whole foods served! Breakfast, lunch and two snacks provided!
Contact**** to schedule an interview or for questions!
Thank you :-)

With care like that why does she have any openings to even advertise for?

We do SAT prep here...

College prep, horticulture AND organic foods for a hundred bucks a week? You can't really beat that!

I want to know how she affords all that and only charges $100 a week!
Projects and activities cost $, and fees that low dont support much.

I actually don't see anything but the food that cost money and she maybe is on the food program. She doesn't say what type of activities but she might already have things donated/stored up/recycled/etc..

It also depends where you live and the cost there. We now have a girl in our area offering $2.00 an hour and yes thats pretty low for our area and with our cost of living.

If she has 5 chldren thats $500 a week she's making so not to bad. Maybe she isn't doing it for soley an income either.

  • have self-help skills as well as knowing how to think perspectively
  • how to return toys, books and other items to where ever they got them from

There are some college students out there who do not have those skills...lol! Your kids are very advanced!

I always laugh at the CL ads that boast a great education plan, yet they can't spell. I was surprised at the price too! I don't care where you are, all of what she offers plus organic food (even if she is on the food program) for that price seems silly. Yes, it may not be about making money, but if that is the case, she wouldn't be taking in 5 children (more like 2 or 3). She sounds like a newbie with grandiose plans.

in all seriousness, you can't believe how many can't dress them self or how to aim in a toilet and not all over the walls and floor (and I'm not talking about pee) or how to eat with utensils, so I really think your kids are pretty advanced

thats rude. If she wants to offer that service at that price, let her go at it. That doesnt mean that she is not honest or hard working. She's probably just new and clueless actually.

we have all been new at this and clueless at some point. i maybe came across harsh but what i am trying to say is, you do know what the going rate in the area is and people that advertise below the market can potentially hurt the other providers in the area that have researched and have put in the time and effort to set up a proper DC. but then again its just my opinion.

We also have musical experession time where we dance and sing to our favorite songs!
