Ok- I don't know their situation. But I feel bad for this LO.
Basically her ad says she's looking for a cheap babysitter starting in January for her 2 year old. It's from 0530-1800 (yes 530AM!!!) M-F. She wanted to know what the prices were on base and off base.
I work at the base daycare center so I let her know prices are determined by household income. But the hours of the center are 0630-1800. Then she told me "wow- 0630....that's late!"
Ok- who in the world opens up at 0530 for dcks? And my heart aches for the LO who might be in daycare for 13 hours a day. I am dying to know how much she thinks cheap daycare will cost for 63 hours of care a week

Seriously....who works those crazy hours? I always wonder if dcp wants to drop off their child, then go home and get ready or go back to bed...somethings not right.

Is she military? Odds are she has PT at 6 or 630 at least some if not all of those days. Or they have her on a crazy schedule.

Um, I have opened at 4am at times. I suppose it depends on what you are willing to accommodate, but I don't think 5:30 is that weird.
A tiny one who needs that long of care, might be better off in home with her own nanny.

I was open from 5:30 am until 6:00 pm the first 10 years I was open.
Many providers in my area are open at 5:00. Some earlier.
We are a community of loggers and construction workers and that means being at work when the sun comes up and working until the sun goes down....6 days a week.
Sometimes BOTH mothers and fathers are in these lines of work so that is not at all an odd request in my neck of the woods.

It all depends on what the provider is willing to do, but OMG. That's way early for me. I get up at 6, but don't see any DCKs until 8:30.

Needing care at 5:30 would not work for my day care, but I can see where some would need care that early. What would bother me is her need for 13 hours per day

Same here, also locally nurses & factory shifts are 6-2, 2-10, 10-6 I was open from 5:30 am until 6:00 pm the first 10 years I was open.

Seasonal construction workers/loggers work loonngg hours, especially in nice weather. Factor in reasonable commute time and a 12 hour day=13 hours.
I used to open at 5:30/6 at the latest and have phased out the families that needed those hours

Lots of healthcare workers here too but most parents commute at least 45 minutes to an hour one way and I'm accommodating because I'm a retired nurse. Been there done that. Most facilities around here don't offer that though

Not surprised at all either, those hours are very common in my area. Parents that work in the field (agriculture) start as early as 4am, nurses 6am and so on. It's really up to the provider if they are willing to accommodate the parent. Yes it's too bad that this poor child has to be in care for 13 hours but what if.... They don't have family. My opinion
