Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Emailing Mom for a daycare spot while emailing Dad for a nanny position

I have been looking for a nanny position for some time now. I had a mom email me for daycare starting next week for an infant. That same day I applied to a job on Care in my town, same hours, days and same age infant, but the parents name was different. Upon googling the mom the dad's name came up, same as the care.com and then when checking her Facebook it's a picture of the same baby on the same changing table on both Facebook and care.

In the ad on Care they mention being in a bind and need care starting next week. I call the number the mom provided me when applying for daycare and left a message for her to call me back.

I have offered to provide them childcare via my daycare for 3 weeks, closing and becoming their nanny.

I'm just concerned that their preference is daycare and that will hurt my business if it gets out that I am looking for a nanny position. I do need to keep the daycare going until I find a job and cannot go without the income.

When I talked to mom I will tell her "I believe I've also been corresponding with her husband on care for their nanny position. I figured it out when I googled you (which I do for all potential families prior to inviting them into my home, just to make sure I'm not going to end up with someone bad KWIM). I am going to ask her straight out if they prefer a nanny or daycare. Depending on what she says I will go from there. If they really want a nanny and are desperate for care I will offer the scenario above.

How would you ladies handle this?

Wow. Small world. I think you've got the right idea. Keep the baby in your daycare long enough to work out a notice with your other families and then nanny for them.

I would have handled it the same way you did.

Got email back from dad (nanny position) that they've decided to go a different direction for childcare. Mom never returned my call yesterday and has yet to respond to my email confirming our tour tomorrow. So either their preference is daycare or they found someone else. I'm bummed, this was my absolute perfect position!

It could also be they are not together and Dad makes more than Mom (to be able to afford nanny care at his place).
