Does anyone have any good recommendations for books for kids ages 2nd through 5th grade? I'm going to try to build up my collection for next year.

My son is in kindergarten (so cant read them on his own yet) but LOVES The Boxcar Children. Our library also has Berenstein Bear Chapter books and Arthur chapter books that he likes to check out and read (2 or 3 chapters at bedtime).
Some others may be Horrible Harry, Jerry Spinelli books (he's the author), A Light in the Attic, Runny Babbit, Falling Up.

Forgot about these, both my 2nd grader and K5'er loves these kinds of books.
