Are these paid vacations? Do you take any other vacations through the year??

I'd like to add Christmas week next year but I also take two weeks in the spring/summer months off paid. IDk what to do...

I don't charge for this. I think of it as a "gift" to my dcp; however, I work only a school year calendar. (summers off - no charge, but all other holidays off with pay.)

This year, I'm just taking the 23rd-25th.

Next year, I'm taking 2 days in May (may have a sub), 3 days in July or August (May have a sub), and the last 2 weeks of the year. Since I am completely "off the grid" for those 2 weeks, I will not ask for holiday pay for the holidays, but will probably take a couple extra personal days/sick days to make up for it.

Mine is different because I follow the school calendar now. I get paid for 4 of the 9 days I am closed. It's totally worth it for me to be able to spend time with my kids. In the past I closed at noon on Christmas Eve and reopened Jan 2nd and it was paid. That was the only paid vacation I took.

I get paid 52 weeks a year....this includes two weeks vacation, 5 personal days, FCC conference/professional days, school/federal holidays, emergency days, etc..... Granted, I worked for 10 long years before following through with this...I have been in business for 21 years now.....

I met some FCC providers years ago that were doing this and, of course, I thought i would lose all my kids if I did this..... BUT I DIDN'T.

During the interview I explain all of this, there are those who choose to go somewhere else and some follow through with enrollment. I have a 3-step interview process...if they make it to the third, I know they are in.

Mine are paid but 3 of those days are paid holidays, I filled in the rest of my days off with paid vacation and personal days. I took 1 week in the summer but did it over Memorial Day week so I only had to use 4 vacation days. Maybe you can fit it all in if you plan summer vacations during a paid holiday week and add a few personal/sick days to your policy?

I take off 16 days per year, including holidays, that are paid. My vacation is from Dec. 24-Jan. 2 (8 business days are in there) and it is paid.

I take Dec 24-Jan 1 off. I get paid for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day. I also take 10 days of paid vacation(all taken in the summer to maintain my sanity).

This was practically written by me

I don't have a 3 step interview process..
I've been in business 21 years...I get paid 52 weeks per year..
includes 9 NATIONAL HOLIDAY...
and two weeks of vacation per year.

and I thought the same thing...that I would loose kids..
But... my clients are well informed of my policies before they make the choice to enroll...
if my policies and fees don't work for them... they go elsewhere...
but.. I stay full and have a waiting list...so it's working..

I take off six weeks a year, but that is because my husband is off for six weeks every year and he wants me to be off whenever he is. I usually take off the week the schools close for spring break, three weeks during the summer and then two weeks at Christmas. These are not paid vacations. Plus I take off ten holidays including the day after Thanksgiving.

No, I only have 2 paid days during that time and only 1 client left to pay me now! Well, 2... but I don't know how that's going to work either since that's only after school and his normal day would be $18 or something, not my usual daily rate. Ugh... But I normally wouldn't close all that time but because I only have one DCB and he's only contracted to come T-W-Th but occasionally drops in Mon & Fri. and with the holidays falling on a Wed it makes it kinda hard to stay open for one Thurs and then close for 4 days and then open back up for 1 and so on. It's just easier for me to know I'm closed the whole time.

I'm glad you brought this up! I only took the 24th and 25th off, both paid. I have one week paid vac. and one non paid vac.-already took my paid. I have 4 personal/sick/educational paid days left for the year, but I was just going to forfeit them. Next year I am definitely going to take the week of Christmas off-PAID and as a 2nd paid vacation! Plus I know that 2 of my families don't work that week, but I bet their children will be here that week!

I'm glad to hear that many providers on here changed their policies and thought families would leave or not enroll, but that didn't happen. It makes it easier to change next year! This is my first year having a fcc. I guess you live and learn!

I'm glad you mentioned this! I want to change my days off for next year, to include more, but was afraid I would loose families. This makes me feel better to hear that they didn't leave. Do you give them any non paid vacations?

Right now I'm just paid for school days, so unpaid, but for next year the plan is to do half paid and half unpaid, with only one other unpaid week.

no: they pay 52 weeks per year.....pay is based on the spot, not attendance

Why would you forfeit them??? Take them! Use them during the holidays They knew about them when they signed up plus most people have time off during the holidays!

I always take xmas eve, xmas and boxing day (Canada) and new years day off with pay. I NEVER take the days between off because I have a policy that only WORKING parents (in a two parent home bith parents must be working) may bring their children between the 27th-31st... of course, almost always NONE of my parents are working during this time so I get it off... with pay, and without having to use any vacation time

I will be closed from Dec 20 - Jan 2, and tuition is the same 52 weeks a year.

The paid holidays I am closed for:
Christmas: 24-26
New Years: 31-1

We have 5 paid personal days written in, we have taken 1 so far this year. So we have 4 left over. We are using one the Wednesday of Thanksgiving. So with the remaining 3, we will close the 23,27,& 30.

Basically we use out leftover paid vacation days to fill in the days in-between the two holidays. That is our only paid vacation (5 days) time. But we are contemplating adding time in next year.

I take that whole week off paid to me along with all federal holidays also paid to me. Summer time I only have one or two children bc most of my kids are teachers children. If I want to take some time off in the summer I pay my sub.
