Daycare and Taxes>Taxes for Legally Unlicensed, Summer Only Care
VTMom 06:28 AM 06-17-2016
Hello!

I was wondering if someone could help me. I am (legally) watching 3 kids for the summer break. Even though I'm not registered, can I still claim meals, expenses, etc for that time, or do I only claim the income? I was previously providing licensed care full-time (up until last summer 2015), so this summer only thing is new to me.

Thanks!

You can still claim your expenses, but you still have to claim the income as well.

Since you are operating legally you can deduct all the same expenses as if you were licensed. You must also claim your income in the same way.
