I'm preparing to move my daycare down to my newly finished basement (thank goodness!), and I'm thinking about new cubbies. Currently we have bins that stack and it is an absolute pain to manage them, particularly with a pregnant belly in the way. I love the idea of those pre-made wooden cubbies by they would just take up to much space (I need 9 cubbies). My kiddos have way too much gear for hooks.

Does anyone have any tips on cubbies that are (a) accessible to kids, (b) space saving, and (c) something I could purchase because we short on time and not super handy? I need something big enough to store a fitted sheet, a blankie, extra clothes and some extra outdoor gear in the fall/winter.

Thank you!

Yes, that! Put up cheap hooks for jackets and assemble one of these. Make sure you anchor it to the wall.

FYI, it's 5 bucks cheaper at Lowe's. Or sometimes Target has a sale.

I ended up using over-door hanging hooks where the diaper bags/backpacks can hang. It doesn't give kids access though, which I guess has positives and negatives to it.

Ohhh, I like that also!! We don't actually need access to the bags, just the contents that stay here, really! I'll definitely remember that one!

After the "bloody tampon applicator" incident, I took you'ns advice and implemented a No Diaper Bags rule.

I have similar to the target cubbies, except mine came from ikea. I have 22 kids enrolled, so I do have 24 cubby boxes, it takes up a whole wall.

the cubby boxes are a 27qt plastic bin and hold everything nicely.

I can take a pic of it for you if you want. I have had these for many many years. Cubby boxes have never been replaced, they hold up very well.

That's what I have too, in the dollar bin at target for back to school I got some clear label envelopes and used spray glue to attach. That way I can label the fabric totes that go in with the child's name and photo

Oh my goodness, I'm unfamiliar with this incident and rule! Yikes.

I got the cubby off amazon and the hooks for the wall at the grocery store. The cubbies had the hardware to be hung from the wall and there were hooks that attached underneath for coats, but as I am renting I worried it would destroy the wall I have had it 4 years and is still in great shape.

Its not this exact one - but close
