I notified dcm that I could no longer watch her handicapped foster child who I had to get off the bus, carry across the drive way in snow and ice (the child is 3 yo and chunky, but functions at 1 yo due to shaken baby syndrome so had to be carried).

Plus I had to leave other dcc inside house while I shoveled snow to make way to the bus. She had not started the school when family signed up so it was not part of our agreement. Then she was only here for one hour per day and it was state pay.

It just wasn't worth it due to the safety issues of everyone considered.

dcm never made any further contact with me and I was sure she was mad at me. Yesterday I received a thank you note from her in the mail thanking me for taking such good care of her foster daughter (who they are adopting)

The family is amazing, and I loved the little girl so much. I felt horrible term. them but saw no choice. Now I feel so much better knowing they don't hate me.

Thanks everyone...
It was just a simple little note, but it brought tears to my eyes as I read it. Little things like that mean so much...

I was once a foster parent and it is so hard to find someone to watch foster children especially a child with a disability. I'm sure they appreciated the fact that you worked with them for as long as you could. So happy she understood and let you know how thankful they were for your love and care for their child.
