Hi! I currently have (1) 3 year old, (2) 2year olds, and (2) 1 year olds.

My question is how long do you keep kids outside during the cold months? My 3 yo and the 2 yo like it most of the time, but the 1 yo's hate it. I can't do it while they are napping because all the children nap once a day at the same time.

How do others handle this with the varying ages?

How long do you stay outside with them?

I have an infant sled with straps and strap the one year olds in along with extra blankets. The older kids are typically willing to help pull them along. I'll create paths in the backyard with my snowshoes so the preschoolers can be "hamsters". Digging out/ packing down an area where you could put a blanket down and have the one year olds sit and play might work. I usually have our sand toys out in the snow too.

I usually go out until I'm cold which is typically a lot sooner then the kids get cold! Probably 40-60 minutes if we can. I definitely get my exercise during the winter!

Of course my suggestions are based on snowy winters. Good luck!
