I'm terminating this child in just 10 minutes! I'm sorry, that sounds mean. But... I'm so excited!! This entire family has driven me crazy for almost 2 months and I QUIT!

This is the little 18 month old whose mother didn't even have a car seat for her. I had to demand that they get a car seat. They are always up to 45 minutes late in the morning. They almost every day and tell me that they have to pick her up early and to have her ready in 10 minutes at different times almost every day. The child almost never takes a nap and if she does, it's for a max of 45 minutes. Meanwhile, she keeps everyone else awake. When they pick up early, they typically wake everyone up. I have told her family I need them on a schedule of drop off and pick up time so I can plan my day. I've told them that they need to stop putting her to sleep every day at home at 4:30 -6:30 then giving her dinner and a bath and putting her back to sleep for the night. She is getting her nap at home with them instead of at daycare. So she keeps everyone else awake by talking, screaming, crying, etc. They obviously won't keep her up in the late afternoon. And when I told the mother that I need a schedule, she just said that if she has to go to work early, her cousin has to pick the child up whenever she is able to. She doesn't care that she is completely destroying the schedule here for everyone in the daycare. Trying to work with her family is an absolute fiasco!

Sounds like you have done everything you can and it just isn't working.

Maybe mom/dad will take the term as a sign for "get your ducks in a row for your next provider or this will happen there too"

I try to be optimistic.

Yah for you though NOT having to deal anymore.

I know EXACTLY what it feels like to be more frustrated by a parent than the child.

Maintaining the parent-provider relationship is exhausting with some parents.

It went much better than I expected. I handed the mom $25.00 in cash, pointed to my receipt book and told her, "I need you to sign right here" As she was signing the receipt with the cash in her hand, I told her it was to reimburse her for tomorrow and that today will be her last day. I have NEVER terminated someone like that! I usually give parents notice. The mother shook her head and asked me what the problem was. I told her about the things I already told you guys. She just shook her head and left.

Sounds like she's been down "Termination Road" before.

I just finally had enough. I have 'put my foot down' and I have tried to get her to understand and care that she is negatively effects everyone here. She has never cared. I tried one last time two days ago to explain how she is disrupting all of the children's and my schedule and needs but again she just told me of her need (which is to not have any routine and come and go different days, different times no matter who it effects or disrupts). After our conversation two days ago, I decided that if I could figure out my finances to do so, this Friday would be her last day. Today the child was just a mess with disrupting nap time. I tried two different times to put the kids down for a nap and gave up both times. So no one got a nap at all - again. I kept thinking that I don't know how in the world I am going to be able to start my preschool program (I love teaching the kids and take great pride in teaching them) back up in August if I can't get her to let the children take a nap and let us get back to a normal schedule. I kept thinking that the parents are never going to stop putting her to bed at 4:30 so she will be tired at naptime at daycare. I kept thinking that I am just fighting a losing battle. The parents are not willing to work with me and the daycare's needs from the family (simply to keep to a time schedule and let the child nap at daycare rather than at home in the late afternoon for them). So after I figured out my finances (by getting my gas and electric and my car insurance companies to postpone my payments) I decided that I just can't put up with the child and mother disrupting my entire day again. I'm just done!

Thank you. I feel so much more relaxed today just knowing that that family won't throw a bag of wrenches into my schedule.
