Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>How Do You Get Paid? Cash, Card Reader, Check?

I'm really interested in finding out how others get paid! I'm thinking about getting a card reader...

Thoughts? Pros & Cons??

I've seen the GoPayment and the PP one. the square isn't as secure or have as many options.

Does PP accept credit cards??

I get cash, checks, money orders and automatic bank transfers on payday.

I dont care what currency a parent chooses to pay me in.

As long as it is on time.

All through MMK using ChildCarePay.com. It really streamlined things. I love not having to run to the bank to deposit anything!

Card readers are great but figure in gateway charges which are not that much depending on who you go with.

I sometimes buy cigars from a friend when we get together with friends in Hollywood. He wips out his iPhone and charges me on the spot. All I do is sign with my finger and I get an email receipt. This is the future IMO.

Agreed! I accept cash, check, or money order. Also, stupid question maybe, but what is required to accept account transfers? Do parent's need your acct # (I assume not but I had a DCM ask for it once ) or just name and info? can you do it between different banks?

We have a drive thru coffee stand locally that does this as well! I think its a great idea to keep costs down, the owner said that he was nervous about someone stealing his phone at first (as he's handing it to cars of strangers so they can sign) but he said he realised he'd just hold their card until he got the phone back and that makes him feel better.

I'd be interested in the card readers with my phone but I'd probably offer it as a optional service if I could get DCPs to pay the fee , which I'm not sure any of my DCPs would go for.

What is a card reader? Those things that plug into your smartphone headset jack?

All my parents pay by etransfer. No bank runs, no cash or cheques. Etransfer is my preference.

Yes, but sometimes people don't have the money. They can still pay you with credit. It gives both you and them the option.

I only accept cash.

I deposit enough money in my account once a month to cover our home payment and bills. I have a seperate savings account where we put our savings and vacation money.

Otherwise, I use strictly cash for all other transactions.
