We do yoga with Cosmic Kids, too!!! My children
love it.
A month ago a Mom was frazzled at home. Her 4-year-old looked at her and said, "Mom, you need some namaste."

What ages is it geared toward? I have 2-3's in my group.

One of the preschools we toured for a CD class did yoga for the kids (it was similar to Headstart but a different organization).
The only thing is you have to be careful because some religious groups believe that yoga and meditation are religious practices that are forms of praying that are prohibited in the bible. I remember hearing a few years ago about a Christian group in a community that were in an uproar because they were trying to do yoga in a kindergarten class.

They all must have been from a strict church then. I know some Christians who do yoga, but some groups are more extreme about particular principles in the bible. I personally see it more as teaching about a different culture rather than religion, since there are many cultures that use exercise and meditation for overall physical and mental health practices. Plus, some Hindu groups even claim that modern yoga isn't the same as their origional intentions of yoga for prayer. Here are some related articles about the subject:

I can totally see why they feel that way. We do not focus in on any one part. We are just silly and call it exercise.
. What we DO focus in on are Bible stories, prayers, 10 Commandments, etc.

Thanks for sharing this. I am going to check it out.
Yoga is easy to do with all ages of children. My group is all quite young (just turned 2s) and they love the stretches, poses and games we play. Keep it short, keep it active and keep it fun
For those with religious concerns: If you have parents with these concerns, you can invite them in to observe a class so they can see what it entails (if that follows your rules, etc). I am a certified children's yoga teacher and any time this has popped up with parents, they have observed and been fine with their kids participating.
