I am seriously thinking of calling and sending this kid home. My son and his fiancee with do anything to keep grandson from crying. They will hold him, airplane him, make noises at him, swing him around anything. I have him once every couple of weeks, if that so it is hard to say he will learn here is here and home is home. They left at 4:30 PM it is 6:40 PM now he has cried the whole time except when I took him for a wagon ride. He won't eat, he has been changed twice. He has been swaddled and rocked to sleep only to wake up when I laid him down. He isn't even crying now he is screaming. I know he is tired, I am about to get him up but know he will still be crying no matter what. I don't want to give up on him, but don't think I have him often enough to make a difference. What would you do?

Ugh. I have a feeling that when my daughter and her fiancee have kids I will be going through the same thing. I am looking forward to grandchildren but they already have a spoiled rotten dog so I can't imagine what they will do with a child. Let me know how you handle it I'm going to need some advice in a couple years.

10 months, This morning, after a good sleep he is a little happier as long as I have in in my lap AND he has a bottle. But he won't get down and play or eat any baby food or real food.

Unfortunately I see that a lot in parents anymore. Kids needing to be entertained at such a young age will make for a demanding child. I recently termed an 19 month old cause he needed 100% attention or he cried.

Have you tried discussing this with your son? Or is it "mom talk" and goes in one ear and out the other? Do they realize they're creating a special snowflake?

I have told them and it does go in one ear and out the other. They think if he cries they are being "bad parents". It also doesn't help that they are living with her parents, her mom has a nurse that comes in and helps her who helps with grandson constantly. I took him home earlier and he started throwing a tantrum so his mom put in his pnp and he was throwing a royal fit so she started singing to him and such. I told her "if you are wanting him to quit throwing a fit you have to walk away and ignore him". Nope not happening. It doesn't help that they are living with her parents and brother, and her mom has a nurse over there that also helps with grandson (that nurse has the best job, she gets paid to take naps although I am sure her company and the auto insurance company paying for her have no clue lol). Anyway someone is always trying to keep him happy. His other grandma agrees with me, but we are outnumbered he cries for her all the time to because she can't pick him up and carry him around all the time either.

Direct them here. lol!

FFS, CRYING for a few minutes has NEVER killed a child, to date. It's one thing to tend to a child who needs something (changed, held, sick and needs attention). It's another thing to hand-hold them through life. Parents anymore teach their children that they can NEVER be disappointed and shield everything.

Then the kids grow up, not knowing basics, how to handle things, etc. and go and do stupid and sometimes, really crazy things. They are also the same kids who feel the world OWES them something. Well, NO ONE IN THIS world is owed anything by anyone. And I'm so tired of all the people who think that anyone does. All creating a spoiled child does is create a selfish, spoiled, entitled, rude, wasteful and crass adult, and that's not even the worst of what's created!

And then guess who complains? Moms, dads, other caregivers (such as aunts or uncles, etc) who didn't want to teach, but rather wanted to instead, CODDLE.

I totally agree. They keep saying they want to have another one when he is four. I told them the other day that the way they are raising him right now they better not or he will resent the next one and maybe treat it badly for taking the attention he is used to. She said "oh then I will spank his butt". I knew I was fighting a losing battle so I bit my lip but I wanted to say "or you could start teaching him now that he is PART of the world not THE world.

I would be direct and say EXACTLY that. Hear it enough and maybe they will listen.
