I must be over thinking this, it just can't be as hard as it seems to be right now.

I am having issues when I do get calls (few and far between but still). Yesterday I had a call wanting care at 4:30 AM. I had a hard time quoting it, because I think I should charge more for those hours. So I am wanting to do a rate tier to make it easier, but I just still can't see how to figure in "premium hours". Someone help me simplify my thinking please.

I charge a base rate for care until 3:00. I add $5 for each additional hour (4:00 and 5:00)

I don't care what time parents drop off, I only care what time they pick up.

ALL care must fall within the hours of 7:00-5:00.

I am willing to provide care 30 minutes prior and 30 minutes after in "some" cases.

That care costs $x.00 per 15 minutes or any portion of. (that amount is anywhere from $1.50 to $5.00 depending on situation)

If you are interested in actually seeing my rate sheet, let me know. It's easier to understand visually.

I would do a flat rate for each day of xx dollars for "regular hours" such as 6:30am etc, and charge additional for the additional hours.
4:00 drop off is $6 hour until "regular time"
5:00 drop off is $5 per hour until regular time
6:00 drop off is $3 until regular time(cuz it would only be 30 minutes)

But maybe I'm over thinking it too lol

I had the same problem as you are stating. I decide 7:30-4:30 are good hours for me so I did it like this:
My rates for my area are not this high but just an example.
Base rate is 125/week. That is for 5 or more contracted hours per day between 7:30-4:30. Any time before 7:30am or after 4:30pm is 1.50 per 30 min or portion of. So in this case
It would be 6x1.50 per day. So for 5 days a week it is an additional $45. So she would pay $170/week. If that makes sense. But I only provide care for a maximum of 10hrs a day so she would contract 4:30-2:30.

I charge $3/hr with a minimum of $120/wk for children ages 6 weeks -24 months. Then $2.75/hr with a minimum of $110 for children 2 years and up. For after school I charge $50/wk with an additional $15/day for non school days. I am open from 730-530 and I let parents set up their hours within those times.

I open at 7 anything before that is extended care and since they are the only ones it is $10 an hour. per child and at 4:30 It would be a bit higher. starting at 7 it would be regular rate
