I know several providers wear YOGA pants. (myself included)
I've heard several wear scrubs???

What do you WEAR and why??
I have a ton of scrubs since I have a medical background but I never thought about wearing them during DC hours! Might be a good idea....

I wear either nice jeans (no holes, tears) and/or cotton khaki type pants.

Usually both the slacks and the jeans have some sort of stretch in them so they are easy to move in.

I usually buy the Eddie Bauer brand slacks made with some sort of scotch guard so they don't get dirty, stained or wrinkled.

I wear a comfy top such as a long sleeve t-shirt style top or a sweater or blouse.

I fix my hair every day but I don't wear make up. Never have.

In the summer months, I wear capri's (not denim though) or longer walking type shorts. NEVER short shorts and never scrubs, sweats or yoga pants.

NOT SAYING those things aren't ok, just not how I was raised.

Oh, and I ALWAYS wear underwear.

Blackcat your funny. I too wear underwear daily. I prefer wearing excercise pants Old Navy. They aren't like yoga pants they are loser not so form fitting. I either wear dark gray, dark blue, or black. For my tops I wear Nike and Under Armour zip up hoodies. In different colors. For my shoes I wear either Under Armour or Nike sneakers. My hair is kinda long so I like to wear a high pony tail or bun. I prefer my hair down but the infants love to grab a hold! Sometimes I wear mascara and some blush so I don't look dead!
In the summer I like to wear again from Old Navy there capri pants in the same material as the excercise pants. On top I like to wear Nike or Underarmour short sleeve t-shirts and sneakers/slides.

This is me all the way!

I typically don't wear makeup, though on occasion I will if I'm going out to dinner that night or something. I just figure that the kids really don't care if I'm wearing makeup, why waste my nice makeup when I'm with kids all day who don't care? I do wear makeup on weekends though.

Capris (any material) with t-shirts in the summer.

Yoga pants and jeans with sweaters, fleece pullovers and sweatshirts in the winter.

I've got really long hair so I definitely do it every morning and I always wear mascara because I'm blonde and it would otherwise appear as if I had no eyelashes

I never wear shorts, tank tops, skin tight or low cut anything during daycare hours.

I wear jeans and a nice top or hoodie.

I do my hair and make-up daily and try to be as professional as I can.

It helps me be more confident. Also if I say kids must be ready for the day in my policy book- what message am I sending if I am not???

Every once in a while I will wear "nice" sweats or athletic pants.

Jammies are only on jammie day

I also wear my under clothes and shoes are a must for me. I can't stand not to have shoes (flip-flops or tennis shoes) on.

I wear casual but nice clothes. Mostly Ann Taylor Loft stuff...nice jeans or capris. On occasion, I will wear yoga pants. I always do my hair and makeup. I have NEVER opened without having those things done!

I usually wear skirts and comfy tops in the summer, or dresses.

Dresses with leggings a lot in the spring and fall, layered with sweaters as it gets colder.

Nice jeans and super-warm layers in the coldest parts of winter. Lots of dresses and leggings then, too, as I can just stuff them under snowpants when we go outside. I wear a lot of cashmere sweaters, but they're $6 thrift-store ones. :-)

I have a lot of fun with scarves, necklaces, and earrings, but very rarely wear make-up. My hair's usually in a simple ponytail or bun.

My goals are to be comfortable enough to get on the floor and play, tromp through the woods, paint, and get messy without worry, but also to look professional enough to fight that just-a-babysitter impression many people have.

I wear jeans and yoga pants or thick winter leggings in the winter. Sometimes my jeans have holes in the knees because I am boney and spend a lot of time on my knees. But I don't keep leggings or yoga pants with holes in them.

In the summer I wear capris, bermuda length shorts. I never wear short shorts.

I wear tshirts, button up shirts and casual blouses on top. Never spaghetti strap tanks or tube tops. Thick strap tanks in the summer.

I wear a bit of makeup daily. Tinted moisturizer, neutral shadow and eyeliner. Lip gloss.

I could have written the same post, I like to buy dresser tops because I want to look nice, now I just got to keep my odd from stealing them to wear to school.

I'm thinking of switching from jeans to longer skirts with leggings, I feel so much more comfy in dresses (I wear them all summer)

I wear yoga pants in cold weather and shorts in the summer with a t-shirt.

If I can pick up clearance t-shirts and Wal~Mart or Old Navy I am a happy daycare lady. My shirts get really dirty, bleach spots on them, and washed a lot so I am not going to spend a lot on nice quality clothing for the dc.

Yoga pants, (I am a yoga pant addict!) I get them on sale from Express or Victoria's Secret because they are short enough (I'm 5'0"). I wear either my daycare logo t-shirt or a kid friendly shirt (plain, layered tee's or a character shirt). My hair is always done and so is my (light) makeup. I like to look nice, and be comfortable.

I have polos made with my daycare name embroidered on them and jeans (or capris in the summer).

Light makeup, hair in a pony.

I wear jeans, nice black pants (Express), khakis, dresses, or skirts. Dresses and skirts have leggings underneath them. I'm on the floor and don't wish to flash anyone.
I wear nice shirts (but not my nicest, my kids don't need me in clothes from Cache). Often times I'm wearing a cardigan over them because I get cold very easily.

I operate this as a preschool and do not feel like yoga pants/sweats/scrubs would be appropriate attire. Teachers in the public school don't wear them, and I don't either.

My hair is either straightened and down or pulled back in a low ponytail and I always wear make-up.

Hmmm, I like the polo idea. My nice shirts would get less wear and tear. Where do you get them made at?

I met a woman a while back at a craft fair who owns an embroidery shop. She is really awesome...and she ships.

www.theembroiderynut.com

She took my EXACT logo, and put it right on the polos. She actually has a picture of it on the gallery page.

You could probably find someone local to you though, either who embroiders, or even a screenprinting shop. I personally like the embroidering better then screenprinting.

Just wondering if your teachers have a dress policy? Ours used to and then......that must have went out the window with everything else.

I was at the HS one day picking up dd and looked up. I said something about the kids up there and she said "Thats not the kids, thats the teachers!"

The litterly could have passed for student with the age and dress-

Some of my parents are teachers, and one of them shocks me every time I see her. What she wears to work should be for "clubbing" only.

Yes, they do. I was a student teacher only 1.5 years ago and had to wear dress pants and a nice blouse/shirt/sweater. We could wear blue jeans on "special days."

My teenager's teachers also wear nice clothing.

lol This is me--- I do wear denim capri's. I wear comfortable clothing. I do put a little make up on every morning. I shower and comb out my hair and let it air dry, and then it either goes in a pony or down for the day. I don't fuss with it much. I am plain Jane for the most part. I wear socks and crocks or socks and sneakers. Simple, comfortable get down on the floor stuff. Once in a while I will wear the yoga pants.

Does everyone dress different on the weekends?

No, not unless I am going on a date with my husband. I wear nice clothing during the work day, but I wear VERY nice clothing to go on dates with my husband.

I love my velour hoodie jackets and pants from NY & Co and have practically every color. My husband calls them my "daycare uniform". I also wear jeans and t shirt tops a lot too, but the velour is so warm and comfy in cold weather!

In the summer, I wear capris and skorts most of the time. It's all about looking nice, but being comfortable too.

I always do my hair and make up... some days it is just a minimum with a pony tail, foundation & mascara, but the effort is always there!

I was like this for a long time, but then I decided to just do it for me- no one else. Gives me an uplift. I put a little eye shadow and mascara on, lip balm. By the end of the day it has fallen off anyhow for the most part. LOL I don't reapply or fuss during the day, maybe if I am going somewhere at night I will refresh after closing.

My kids are funny, they care. They notice if I don't wear it. I didn't wear anything for a couple of days, I had a little stye I wanted to nurse. Every once in a while I won't wear anything, because I have excema. Parents and kids kept looking at me, like I was not right. I don't wear much but just enough that they notice something is different. Its funny.

Open house night this year when meeting my sons teacher he turned so red I thought his cheeks would burst. He wouldn't look up from the floor or quit giggling and she asked me if he was just nervous. What I said was no. What I thought was - ummm........how to put this delicately..........I'm sure it's because your dress is so tight he can literally see the outline of your freckles and I personally am wondering if you have nipples because your dress is so low cut I'm shocked they're not showing at this point...please excuse the boy, he's never seen a woman dressed so provocatively at just 8 years old....also please excuse me too, I've just never seen a TEACHER dress so hooch in all my life

When we walked out of the room to leave my husband preemptively held his hands up and said "don't punch me, I swear I was NOT lookin!!!"

Although he breezes through his homework here at home just like he always has my sons grades have dipped noticeably this year, I can't imagine it has anything to do with her bits hanging out everywhere at school all day

Fun!

What does everyone's wardrobe consist of, as far as a good quantity. I seem to either have to much or not enough and looking for a balance and regimen for swapping out clothing for seasons and not looking like I wear the same thing everyday. Anyone have a good system going for clothing for themselves?

I won't argue more is better--- but I am trying to find a balance and not have so much laundry to do etc..

I wear either jeans and t-shirt or cotton capris with a t-shirt. I don't wear makeup. Have long hair so it's either completely up or down and curly pulled back or straightened(which doesn't happen often). Summer i wear either shorts and a t-shirt and occasionally a tank top.

omg that is so halarious. We have a teacher at school like this too. So this teacher always wears see thru blouses that you can see every detail on her bra and she teaches grade 6.

but one day dd and her friend S (S has a mouth on her) went to school. S had a bra on that a bit of the strap was showing so that teacher told her to cover it up (dd said if you adjusted her shirt you couldn't tell but its a sports bra) so S puts on a hoodie. At recess it was hot outside so S took her hoodie off, well that teacher started yelling at her. Well S started yelling back and told her that everyone can see her bra and that was inappropriate (told you she has a mouth) the teacher walks away.
come friday they have this field trip to the mall for police week and that teacher shows up wearing her see thru blouse, dd and her friend almost died laughing when the police officers couldn't stop looking at her really pretty bra.
Oh this teacher is about 55 yrs old too and is notorious for wearing black leather pants (think 1980 pants) she was the best teacher my girls ever had but her choice in clothing was something to be desired--dh never went to parent teacher interview because of this

That is hilarious!

I have a DCM who recently lost ALOT of weight. She now wears black fishnet stockings, 6+ inch stilettos, black leather mini skirts, lacey see through tops and all sorts of other totally inappropriate things.

The weight loss itself is fantastic and she really does look GREAT! The clothing choices....well....

I guess it wouldn't be that big of a deal if she worked at a nightclub or a bar but she is a licensed family therapist.

I wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt during the winter. Capris and a t shirt during the summer. I always have my slippers on no matter what time of year it is! My hair usually starts down, but I end up with it in a pony by the end of the day. I really don't wear make up unless, I have a date with the hubs which is very often. I think I've had the same foundation for 5 years now

I wear scrubs because I have a lot of them from my medical background. Plus they are cool in the summer, have lots of pockets, and comfortable. During the winter I just put a long sleeve shirt under it. I have noticed that a lot of daycare centers in my area are starting the have their employees where them also.

I always wear yoga pants and a t-shirt. I also wear a white apron over my clothes (the kind that goes around your neck and ties at the waist). The apron has finger paint, glitter and all sorts of "art" from the littles covering it. The apron makes me feel like I have a sort if uniform and the pockets are great for holding supplies and surprises.

I wear jeans (or capri's) and one of my t-shirst with our day care logo on it. My sister and I screen printed them ourselves for all our co-workers. It is surprisingly easy.

I do wear shorts and tank tops during the summer, but the shorts are an appropriate length, and the tank tops have the thicker straps, none of my underclothes show. The tank tops are also screen printed with the day care logo.

I would LOVE to know how to screen printed them. I would love for us to have shirts, but I don't need a ton - just for 3 of us to wear. And it seems like it is costly to order them unless you need a ton.

I normally wear comfy pants. I don't know if their considered yoga pants or not. I'll occasionally wear jeans and will put on makeup if I leave the house on Mondays or Fridays when I have only one dck. If I get some shirts printed I'm sure that will become my "uniform." I wear jeans and older t-shirts. I'm plus sized and my jeans tend to have some stretch to them. I wear short sleeved or 3/4 length sleeved tops because I get hot and cold through out the day and can add or remove a sweater easily. I wear no make up but I never do and 'doing' my hair = fluffing the curls and throwing a hairband on to keep it out of my face. But, again, that's how I always am.

I the summer I wear the same t-shirts and capris, denim usually but I have a few pairs of jersey knit ones that I wear on messy days or laundry days, lol

Oh, and I wear underwear. Big, white, Fruit of the Loom granny panties. They're comfortable and I'm not trying to impress anyone.

I won't wear yoga pants, but for one reason only.... LOL... It's because I can only wear Yoga pants with one type of shoes... tennies. But, I change my shoes during the day. (old lady foot issues) So, I might wear sandals for a while, tennies for a while, Birkies for a while... and two of those things would look dumb with yoga pants.

Honestly, though, we have a very short time that we can wear pants at all...so, for 80% of the year, it's shorts and tank tops.

I love that we went from talking about what clothing we wear to talking about what underwear we wear...or for some, don't wear!

I also do not wear underwear to bed, but I do wear knit pj pants (usually capri length or shorts) with a tie waist and a t-shirt....and NO Socks....canNOT wear socks to bed but HAVE to wear socks during the day.

Haha, I love where this thread went to! For bedtime, I wear a T-shirt or tank top, undies and cotton pants or shorts. I think my night wear is because I have this notion in my head that if we had to evacuate the house on a whim, I want to at least be clothed enough for the public.

Oh, yes, and occasionally socks to bed too ;-)

An I the only person that sleeps without clothes? They make me feel trapped. I do keep my pjs next to the bed though to save a poor fireman from seeing me in my birthday suit.

I sleep in jammie bottoms and t-shirt-luckily! True story-my daughter was having a medical issue and was with her boyfriend. He had just pulled in our driveway when this started. The only thing he could think of doing was come in the house, come to our bedroom to get us and thats exactly what he did. It was very startling to look up and he's entering your bedroom telling us what was wrong.

The first thing I did was throw back the covers, yelling "I've got clothes on" and took off outside. Later I thought what if I didn't sleep in clothes-the poor boy would have been so scarred for life- I always think if my house is on fire would I really have time to be getting dressed or some other type of emergency like this was?

For pants I usually wear yoga/athletic or some elastic waist band type of pants that are comfortable. I have fibromyalgia, so even if I wasn't up, down, all around with the kids, I would wear them anyways most times to be comfortable. I hate jeans and wear them usually only on Saturdays, if then.

I always wear a scrub top tho because I like the big pockets, plus they are also easy to move around in. Bonus - the kiddos like looking at the patterns on my shirts. The pockets are nice to carry my cell phone and writing utensils with me throughout the day. Plus whatever else I happen to have to hold right away.

I like to dress the best possible because I love clothes!

I wear my awesome and comfy GAP jeans.
Khaki's
Corduroy's in winter
Once or twice a month yoga pants. I look at it like "jeans" day at offices.
Nice shirts, but practical for child care-I too LOVE Ann Taylor Loft!

Shorts and capri's in summer....casual tops in summer

I wear make-up - do my hair

I do wear underwear all day and all night....and socks to bed in the winter....or my feet freeze! I put on clean little exercise socks each night. brrrrrr it can get cold here

Monday through Thursday, I wear medical scrubs...They look professional, are extremely comfy and most tops have lots of pocket space. The coordinated look is easy to pull off in the early morning and works well for after work when running errands. I wear my personal clothing on Fridays...and its usually jeans and a business casual top. I prefer to look professional and it seems to make a difference in the caliber of clients I attract and the kind of clients that are referred to need by those clients...with few exceptions, they all tend to be well educated, middle class professionals. I don't think I could ever see myself opening the door wearing gym clothes...I think dressing professionally daily makes the difference between being looked at as business owner or a babysitter....not that there is anything wrong with sitters....but let's not blurr the lines between the two...lol

***raises hand*** I don't sleep with any on either! When I do my hot flashes are so bad, I end up stripping in the middle of the night.

ok I have to know...

for those of you that voted you wear jeans, how do you do it? I am on the floor, running, jumping, doing somersaults, cart wheels, stretching, dancing and so on. I could never do it in jeans....

I agree! I don't buy cheap jeans, mine are all seven for all mankind or rock and republic, so it makes me cringe to think of them getting dirty. I could buy cheap jeans for daycare use only, but that seems uncomfortable to me. I am in yoga pants today (bootleg, black) and a long sleeved blouse, and a black cardigan. I feel comfortable, and I think I look professional. My hair is done and makeup is done, so I look put together, imho.

I wear my regular clothes (jeans or yoga pants and a season appropriate shirt) and a scrub top over the shirt.
I find it very convenient to have the large pockets, they are roomy and comfortable, make me look a bit more professional AND keep my clothes cleaner so if I have run out at the end of the day, I just pull the scrub top off!

I wear your basic Levi's 505's daily ~ and I must say the addition of 1% spandex is wonderful At 52, I'm not doing alot of cartwheels and somersaults ~ that's what I pay my late teen/early 20 assistants for!

I do keep a pair or two of nicer, dressier jeans for date nights with the hubby.

My version of casual Friday is The Traveler boot cut pant from either Chicco's or Boston Proper. Still pull on, but a heavier weight and a more generous cut than most of the yoga pants that I have tried. Paired with a longer sweater or top it's pretty cute and comfortable change from jeans.

I wear yoga pants, sports bra, and a tank top. I like feeling secure and functional throughout the day. And nope, no underwear here! I never ever ever wear underwear with yoga pants or leggins because I think the panty line looks terrible and it gives me a massive wedgie, which I don't want the kids watching me dig out ALL day lol.

Well, none of my shorts from last year fit me (bought them all after my weight loss, and I have since gained everything back!), so I am stuck with my 2 pairs of jean capris that I have (that are not so giving when it comes to moving around too much) and a couple pair of athletic-type capris. I pair them with a simple t-shirt or tank-top.

Mostly sweats with Tshirts or hoodies. Also fun PJ bottoms with tshirts
Considering getting scrubs for next year since I will have a lot of littles and I thought it might look more professional LOL

LOL! I once worked with a girl that didn't wear a bra. Well I guess a few parents complained about it and our director had to bring it up in a meeting. No names were mentioned, but we knew who she was talking about.

I've also seen parts of underwear that shouldn't be seen!

Very true, you do want to be clothed enough in case of an evacuation!
We had a fire 2 years ago. It was 10:00pm and it was summer so I was wearing my stretchy daisy duke shorts and a little tank top. Well I noticed a glow in the back of my house so I ran out to the back to look and sure enough our house was on fire!
Well, I had to run out of the house in that skimpy pj outfit with no shoes at that!
The neighbors probably got a show every time I bent over!..

I wear jeans and a t shirt or nicer tank top. I think that I could live in jeans and can do everything in them that I could do in a pair of let's say, yoga pants!

I find scrubs to be very hot in the summer. I wear them most of the time. But not much in the summer.

I wear scrubs because 1) They are stain resistant 2) They are comfortable and 3) They seem more professional to me. And as far as undies, granny panties during the week, VS on weekends and to sleep....I go all natural

I just wear normal everyday casual clothes. A nice top and usually a black pair of pants. That is what I am more comfortable in. I like to present myself as sort of a professional.
I will always have my hair curled and looking nice, but I don't put any makeup on as it makes my eyes water, I guess I must have an allergic reaction to most make ups.
