I have been wanting to term 2 siblings for awhile, but I haven't, mainly due to financial reasons. One is almost a year and a half and the other is 3. I'm just going to say it, they drive me CRAZY and I'm pretty sure I need therapy now that I've watched them for almost a year and a half

I'm changing the ages in my daycare to 2+, but I can't really give them that reason when I term because one of them is over 2. I doubt the parents would try to keep the 3 year old here if the other one can't come, but I don't want them to think for one second that the 3 year old can stay hahahaha!

How should I word it? I really like the parents, so I feel bad teeming ugh.

Dear DCF

Due to changes in my business I will no longer be able to provide services to your family. The last day I am able to provide care is September X, 2016.

Please note, this was not a personal decision but one that was made in the best interest of ABC Child Care.

Thank you for your patronage! I am including the number to the local child care resource and referral offices to assist you in your search for new child care arrangements.

Sincerely,

Provider

Keep it as vague as possible:

Dear Family,
My business requirements have recently changed and due to this, I will need to terminate our contract.
The last day I will be available to provide care for dcks is x/x/16. Here is the number to our local association to help aide you in the search for a new provider: XX
I wish you the very best of luck.

Sincerely,
Crazy Cuz Your Kids Are Nuts

If they question you or push for more information, I would simply state:
I have enjoyed our time together and hate to say goodbye, unfortunately it is necessary.
OR
My business needs have changed and I need to re-structure. I'm sure you understand.

I would state that you are restructuring and NEED all enrolled children to be 2.5+. I doubt they'll keep just one child enrolled for another year.

I find that people always push for more information and I just don't mind giving it to them.

I think it's a lot like tearing off a band aid. Once it's done, you will feel so much better and wonder why you didn't do it before. Just remember to keep calm and keep your cool when you do give them notice. Practice some key phrases over and over that you might need.

"I have enjoyed caring for your family," "I wish you all the best," "I am moving in a new direction with my business," and "I'm sorry you feel that way" etc etc etc So you're prepared for however it goes.

Good Luck!

We all say it here...dont be held accountable for how other people feel. YOU have to do what is best for YOU and your program.

Trust me when I tell you, i don't know of any family that wont do what is best for them without our feelings in mind at all. Trust me when I tell you they are not thinking about how we will feel when they have to make changes for their famiy.

Good luck.
