Tuesday, january 14th, child got mad and bullied the other children so they had to sit in timeout and proceeded to cuss the teacher, hit and anything they could possibly think of so parent was called and talked to the child and was told if they was called again it would be a 30 day suspension because this has been going on for at least six months. And owner has had a meeting with the child's parent and tried to work on a solution and it went well. Parent also contacted a mental health specialist and the child has gone twice and we asked what happened at the second appointment and parent said they suggested taking toys away, timeout and other methods of discipline which we do but doesn't work. That same afternoon, parent got called during rest time because child was acting up and parent came and got child and the administrator was sitting at the desk and didn't remind parent of what was said at the meeting regarding two calls and a 30 day suspension and she came in thursday and brought child and administrator was off and got told that he couldn't stay because he was suspended and mom stated that she was never told that on tuesday and that if she had known she would've made alternate arrangements for care because she has to work. Our administrator was sitting on her tail and didn't proceed to talk to the parent face to face. It was rude and very disrespectful and this isn't the first time she has been like this towards parents or other employees.

Unfortunately, only the owner can address this. Did the parent contact the owner and file a complaint against the director? Did the parent have a signed copy of the behavior plan stating the 30-day suspension was next? If so, the director may not have had to talk to her again.

The owner has tried numerous times to contact the parent without success and the administrator also stated that the parent was on her phone when she came to get her child that day which is true.

If there has been no contact since the 16th and she is not returning calls or emails, I would assume they have found other care and moved on.

@cat herder: The owner told the parent during the meeting that after the 30 days, they would allow the child to return to care and if nothing has changed, they would be dismissed. Thursday january 16, the mom showed up with him after they were suspended and that's when the whole problem started because she thought that it was just a 1 day suspension and that they could return and they came in and mom signed the child in as usual and was told by another teacher that he wasn't allowed to stay and she stated that if she had known that, she could've made alternate arrangements for care. The administrator was off and later called another employee annoyed because she got called and asked what was said by the teacher. The administrator was off the day of this incident

The owner, the administrator as well as the director should have met with this parent all together to discuss this suspension.

I think the mother was right to assume she still had care.

ALL of it should have been in writing and signed by all parties involved and a copy given to the parent as well as one for the child's file.

This is on the center not the parent in my opinion.

I completely agree and I would fully expect this family to have moved on because of it.

What I don't understand is the question. Is the center worried she left without paying the final two weeks or even the last 30 days of suspension? Are the employees wanting the director/administrator fired? Is the owner upset with the parent or the director?

Yes, I wondered as well.

I also wondered why the staff knew so much about this.
I haven't ever worked in a center setting but the few ladies I know that do never know anything about this kind of thing.

They know only about the child and the child's day to day needs as they pertain to care in the classroom etc.

Anything pertaining to the parent (billing/contracts/policies) etc are usually handled by administration.

I don't know if as a parent I'd be comfortable with child care workers/staff being privy to all of this.

The owners knew what happened because this had been going on for over six months plus we all knew because we as employees were in contact with this child daily.

Yeah but how does being in contact with the child allow employees to know the administration portion of this is?
The child surely didn't tell the caregivers about the 30 day suspension and the failure of the director or owner to put it in writing?

I guess I'm confused about what the actual issue is?

The reason that we know the administration portion of what happened is because word travels fast within our center and especially among administration because if there is something we need to know about, we usually have a meeting regarding different issues
