We have some bushes along the backside of our house. Every year I have problems with wasps/hornets building nests in them. I am tired of seeing wasps, tracking them to see which bush they are going to, finding nest, spraying and removing nest, then repeat process a week later. I just went out to trim the bushes for the first time this spring and yes, you guessed it, another nest. Is there something that I can spray on all the bushes that will prevent them from buiding a new nest? Will just spraying all the bushes with wasp killer prevent them for a while or will it just wash away with the next rain and I will be back to the same thing again. Any ideas?
Sorry, I have no answer for you. I was hoping someone would respond because we have had wasps here too.

They have bug off bracelettes but IDK if they repel bees or wasps.
When I worked as a seasonal tour guide at an activity park they said that we were only allowed to serve water and never juice or soda on the peacock deck because the sweet smell of the sugar in the juice attracts wasps and bees. So the only advice I have is to limit juices outside or overly sweet smelling flowers.
I think you may be able to get rid of the nest by using a powerful hose but you have to be careful because they may attack you. When all else fails, call a professional exterminator.

Thanks.
We don't ever have juice outside and there aren't any flowers in the backyard so that isn't what is attracting them. I think it is whatever type of bushes these are but they don't flower. There are other bushes out back but these 5 bushes are all one type and the only ones they build their nests in.
I have no problem getting rid of the nests but am tired of continually getting rid of nests. I'd rather get rid of the wasps so they stop building the nests.

I was taught that wasps are territorial. You want to spray their nest good at night when they are all likely to be home and when their metabolism slows with the cool air so they are less likely to attack. Saturate the area. If the spray leaves residual to kill wasps that may come back later that werent present upon spraying. Leave the nest there. Most wasps want their own nest and dont use old nests...and they dont want to make nest by somebody elses. ALso...some people use paper lunch bags...blown up with a bit of air and tied off at top...tIe this to areas the wasps usually build. If you are lucky, maybe they will mistake it for a wasp nest and go somewhere else. These may be old wives tails, who knpws, but if removing the nest doesnt work then it is worth a try.

hmmmm...might have to try leaving the next nest after I spray it and see if that works. I already removed the one I found today.
