I have an almost 3 year-old girl that I care for. Mom says she's fully potty trained. Today she came in, and within 15 minutes of being here, she stood on my carpet and urinated! I had to bathe her and get her all cleaned up. Then prior to nap, I have her go into the bathroom to go potty. My daughter comes and tells me she again, urinated on the floor. This time I had her help clean it up. Mom will be defensive when I say something about it, as in the past she comments, "she never has accidents with me." Hmmm...really? Has this ever happened to anyone? If so, how did you deal with it?

Yes I have. I told mom that even though she is potty trained for you, she is still having accidents here.
Its un-sanitary for the other kids and until she stops peeing on my floor she will be expected to be in pull ups.
Easy peasy! if she has a big stink about then forward her a bill for the carpet cleaning.

I would not argue about whether this girl was potty trained at home or potty trained at all. The fact is, she is having accidents at daycare and that means that I would require pull ups or cloth trainers (with an waterproof cover) until she is accident free for two weeks in your care and you will let them know when that is completed. Just agree with everything they are saying but do not give on your position
"But she is potty trained at home!"
"I am so glad she is potty trained at home. I don't doubt that. but she is having trouble at daycare and that means (quote your potty policy)...."
"But she is fine everywhere else!
"Thats wonderful! but she is having trouble at daycare and (again quote policy)"
"But are you taking her enough?
"She will have to XYZ (policy) until we figure out if that is the case
maybe she is scared to go here?
"maybe she is but she will have to do XYZ until we can move past this
maybe she doesnt like it here? maybe she is sick? (insert every excuse parent will give)
"That may be true but she will have to do (potty policy) until we get that figured out"
*check the supplies, diaper bag BEFORE kiddo is allowed to enter the house until you know for sure that mom will follow the rule! send them both home if supplies are not adequate

Yes to everything said above. Treat it just like an illness policy. It doesn't matter why, the outcome is the only thing that matters.
In our earlier days we have had parents try that so often. Including one client who sent their daughter, who was full PT at 18 mo, in panties for 6 months even though we went them home wet everyday. Luckily she had a younger sister who was in diapers, and we just shared the pack. There is not way in the world I would tolerate that again.

Thanks for the responses! It is very unsanitary. Right where she urinated is where I place 2 of my almost-crawling infants! I had to clean the carpet and then mop the floor. I will do what was suggested as far as sending her home in a diaper. I have extras and don't mind using them if need be!! Thanks for the encouragement.

Yep, they would definitely be in a diaper after that incident at my house!!
