Has anyone read this book?? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. It's about living your life for YOU, not for anyone else. She was married and has 3 kids, then fell in love with a woman, divorced her dh, and is learning to live the way she wants to, not according to how the world and everyone else wants her to.
She touches upon expectations so much, how we're brought up to fit a certain mold because that's just the way things are supposed to be. All the ways we diminish our true selves because we're pushed into thinking we're supposed to be a certain size or look, do things a certain way, etc. It's really a wonderful book, very enlightening and easy to read considering the topic.

One thing she mentioned, which struck a chord with me, was she and other mothers took their turns providing bagels/cream cheese/juice for a group of kids(Maybe a sports team can't remember) and one of the other moms emailed her saying how the kids were disappointed with and didn't like only 2 choices of cream cheese so they had to do without. She was told to please pick up 5 choices. The author said 'five choices of cream cheese does not make for a happier child, 5 choices makes for an A*sh*le'. Ding ding ding!!!

She says protecting your child does your child such a dis-service; letting them face their struggles makes them stronger and freer.

Anyways, it's really a well-written and thought-provoking book.
