Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>My Daycare Beginning! Pics of Setup

I had my initial visit today and passed! Yay! My licensor is great We had to do so much this year to get ready... Cut down several large trees, new concrete, put up a fence, replaced our baseboard heater covers, painted the play room, built a wall for our basement stairway, got all new furniture, put in a drop in ceiling in our mud room, invested in several nice wooden toys and kid rugs.

I wanted to thank everyone on this forum for all of the advice, especially those that shared their parent handbooks and websites and decor pics

I'm still working on some details and waiting on a few items I ordered. When I'm done I'll share in the decor group but so far, here are some pics of my setup Too excited not to share I put so much work into it!

~ We rearranged our entire main floor to make our living room a play room. We turned a bedroom into a Family Room - this is where our TV is. This room will accommodate Bonding Visits (parents of an infant can visit once/day to feed their child) and also Mildly Ill Care if a child needs some quiet relaxation away from the group (I can see into most of this room when sitting on the couch in the play room and this would only be for older preschoolers and school agers).
~ All rugs are from Land of Nod - I love the variety they have in texture and the prices aren't bad.
~ I got my couch from Ikea - all rounded corners and the cover zips off for easy washing! I wasn't going to do a couch cause of boogers and all that, but since I'm breastfeeding, I figured it would be nice to have a comfy seat.
~ I made separate areas for mobile infants/toddlers and for older kids (so they may play with smaller pieces). I bought an acrylic sheet from Menards, cut it, and lined it with pool noodles for a 'fun' factor.

That's lovely, you can really see how much you have put into it. That's a cool idea, the plexiglass with the pool noodle!

I love it-looks very well organized and the colors are nice & calm
I have a question about the baby gate/shelf/baby gate dividers (I'm looking for something new possibly for my set up) Are the gates just pressure mounted between the wall and the shelf, or are they mounted into the walls? Are they sturdy-the shelf doesn't move? Or the gates?
Thanks

Thanks everyone!

The two brown/metal gates are pressure mounted and they're pretty sturdy - I tried shaking the bookshelf that's between them and everything is really solid. I had a few kids 'testing' them before being reminded of the rules (no hanging on them or leaning or standing on the bottom bar) and they didn't budge or buckle. They're pricey though... $70 a pop

So nice!!! Looks like something out of a daycare catalog or magazine-this is a daycare set-up before children. My dc looks like the after picture....tornado, hurricane and earthquake all rolled into one.
I know you described your pool noodle thingie but my dense mind isn't grasping it. Can you post a picture(or did I miss it) or describe it more? Sounds intriguing.

Why is it that every time I do things for a 'fun factor' the kids just look at me like wth? They have no clue what to do with it.
