What do you consider an adequate serving size for a snack for a 12-18mos old? a 2-3yr old? 4yr old?

Typical snacks are served:
muffins
crackers & cheese
yogurt & fruit
trailmix (HM w/ cheerios, fish crackers, raisins)
Fruit w/ graham crackers spread with cream cheese
PB toast & fruit
veggies & dip w/ pretzels
HM granola bar w/ applesauce

Snacks are typically served with water. Sometimes juice but rarely (1-2x/month)

ETA, I'm in Canada and we don't have a food program.

I do one fruit or veggie and one protein or grain for each snack. Milk for one, juice or water for the other.

For portions I use the information on these charts. I was waaaay overfeeding grains before.

Here for a snack for ages 1-4 is 1/2 slice bread 1/2 C fruits/veggies and 1/2 cup milk.

I used to just give big handfuls of snacks, until I read up on my food program and saw how much I should have been giving. I think the kids would eat no matter how much I put in front of them...so I dont leave it up to them!

I agree, the kids ask for more a lot during AM Snack where I often do a half an apple each with peanut butter or cheese and water. We eat lunch about an hour later so I just remind them lunch is coming and we move onto story time. (They would keep eating...if I let them)
