Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Interview ~ Stood Me Up TWICE!

I set up an interview for yesterday at 3:00. No show, I sent her a text asking if she was still coming and said I hope everything was ok. She responded, she apologized and said she forgot. Her baby is about 2 weeks old so Im sure shes sleep deprived and probably did forget. Sooo....she asked if we can meet today, same time. No show. Again...

I text her an hour later just letting her know Im available if she would still like to meet.

She has a "read" recpt on her phone. So...I know she did "read" it. No response. Ug.

This bothers me!!! Two days in a row??? Should I just let it go? What do I say if she does finally respond?

Normally, I would just let this go but I really need to fill this spot and I realllly wanted an infant

I personally would let it go and move on to the next family. I understand wanting to fill a spot but you shouldnt have to run chasing and begging for a family. I know she is a new mom but if it was that important to her, she would have been there or at least communicated better.

This is how I look at it. It's a relationship correct.

A business relationship , but think about how your business relationship pertain to your personal relationships.

Would you chase a man or someone to be your friend? No

You base relationships off of trust and communication, you would not keep relationships with people that would lie to you or have no ability to keep communication open with you.

I see it all the same.

I agree with daycare

Ignoring communication and no respect for your time already?

The next excuse will be she forgot to pay...

Then she'll forget to bring diapers...

Then she'll forget formula....

If she can't remember two interviews, sleep deprivation or not...

I know exactly how you feel. The same thing just happened to me this morning. We recently moved 3 months ago, we still have a few bills we have to pay out towards our old house which there and back takes about an hour....So I went and paid bills this morning, rushed around( really wanted to stop at my parents house because I was in the area, I hardly ever get to see them since we moved farther away) I was in hurry so I had to pay bills and come straight home to clean the house and clean the daycare and guess what a NO SHOW! I text her also just like you text your mom and it said she "read" the text which even makes me more mad to not respond back...

This mom also wrote me two weeks ago and then left me hanging with not knowing if she was interested or not and then wrote to me again yesterday to set up an interview but was a no show. I am not going to call her or text her because it is a disrespectful parent and who wants that.

Yes. I have never had a good experience rescheduling an interview for someone who forgot or had an excuse pretty equal to that. I have actually had very BAD experiences with the clients who signed on after rescheduling.

I WILL NOT reschedule an interview now if they do not give me x amount of hours notice, barring extenuating circumstances. It says this in my e-mail to them confirming the time.

It's sooo maddening isn't it? You make sure your house is a little bit cleaner than usual, race through and double-check your paperwork to make sure you have everything ready for her, rehearse your questions and answers in your head, make sure everyone is either on their best behavior, sleeping, or out of the house. Then you start to sweat just a little bit more, hoping like crazy this is a good fit for you, your schedule, your daycare, your life. You keep watching the clock, watching it tick to 2:55, wondering if she's an early bird type, then it hits 3 on the dot and you keep thinking, eek any second now, hope she likes me and I like her. Hope her baby is really sweet and quiet and doesn't cry all the time. Then 3:15 passes, and 3:30, darn it she's late. She'll always pick up late. Then you realize at 4:00 she's extremely late or has turned into one of those dreaded no-shows.

Yeh, no shows don't get a second chance with me, never mind a third chance. I'm sorry but by then you'd have door mat written all over you.

Good luck with the next prospective dcf! And it WILL happen!!

Take the mom if you have the opportunity IF YOU WANT TO.

I wouldn't do it for anything. Mom is disrespectful of you and your time. I'm guessing she's pretty self-centered, and NOT something you want to deal with. However, you can always take her on and then kick her out if it doesn't work out. I wouldn't want to deal with THAT, either, but I would't worry too much about feelings of someone who stood me up twice.
