Daycare Center and Family Home Forum>Door stopper?

Ok, so back in the day with my own kids, I used to have these plastic and rubber, wall mounted door stoppers. It would not only keep the door from slamming into the wall behind the door, but I could open the door and KEEP it open by sliding a piece down over the door stopper. It was a kid proofing thing. Can't remember the brand but similar to like Safety 1st or something along those lines.

Anyway, weather is getting nicer and I want to leave my front door open since I have a metal security door, but I have kids who simply will NOT leave the door alone. I see all kinds of things that go on the top of the door to keep them from pinching their fingers, but I am not seeing something to KEEP the door open. The magnetic ones I am finding won't work because kids pull hard and would close the door anyway.

Any ideas?

The kind that fit over the hinge like a wedge work well...

Google Gravity door catch. There are a variety of options!

Thanks for the replies!

None of those are what I was referring to. It almost looked like a box outlet cover that attached to the wall, then the long piece attached to the back of the door, then the long part went into the box part when the door opened all the way and a piece slid down on the box part to hold it there. Man, I wish I could find a pic of what I am talking about!

Sounds like what we have to hold our camper door open. Maybe check those out online.

Camper door holder might work, it sounds very much like what you are describing.

I use the magnetic door holder and the kids have to tug pretty hard to pull the door off the magnet, normally it is only the older kids that can pull hard enough to do this. I lot of times if they can't get it with a small tug they walk away. We have these on most doors in the house. It makes harder for the younger kids to get locked in rooms.

Some of the doors on our daycare house had these

I still use some to keep fingers from getting pinched and one to prop the door open in the large group room.

I also have those stopper things on the back of the walls so the doors and door knobs don't get flung right into the dry wall behind.
