I usually don't complain, but this was too funny not to share.
I took next week off as it is spring break and most of my families are teachers or took off anyway.
They have known for 6 months, AT LEAST, if not longer. It's posted on the door, the parent board, the front of the sign in binder, in notes home and on facebook.
I just had a parent (who is a teacher AND OFF anyway) just ask me if I will be taking any kids next week during my vacation.
I didn't realize "closed" and "vacation" meant babysitting on the side.
You know that V8 commercial? I had all I could do not to pop her one on the forehead.

What did she say when you told her no?
Did she realize how funny/ridiculous she was being?
Um, yeah because we all take vacation so we can still work...

Uh huh, the one thing you forgot was to wear a sticky note pasted to your forehead!! Gotta be your fault.
LOL!!!
Maybe we need to start adding a side note on all vacation notices.
I will be closed for vacation from April X, 2014 to April X, 2014.
*Children will not be permitted to attend.

Reminds me of a while back we had a poster here who had to explain to a parent in regard to her policies allowing each family to have 10 days per year they didn't have to pay and the parent thought that meant her kid could come to daycare 10 days and she wouldn't be charged for it.
Now I am always careful to say ABSENT or NON-ATTENDING days rather than just "free" or "no charge" days...kwim?
Heck if I am going to not get paid AND watch the child...
