so I work at a wisconsin center. We are a smaller center. A child came to me after nap to show us her bumps. her arm and up her shoulder was covered in red bumps, all in a nice line. We noted it and told mom and suggested benydrl (suspected a allergic reaction). Today she mentioned that she got sent to the nurse at school (half day4k) and the nurse put "some cream on it". We looked at the childs bumps and realized they look alot like bedbugs. What would be the next steps? Were a little feaked out

We exclude for any unusual skin condition or rash and require a detailed doctor’s note with diagnosis and treatment plan. We do not accept any version of “was seen in my office and may return”.

We’ve also called our county health department for advice (not about bedbugs, but for other questionable situations).

Do any other daycare kids have the same bites? I’ve never been exposed to bedbugs but I’ve heard they are expert travelers and spread quickly. If the bumps are limited to her, I’m not sure that I would worry too much. But I would definitely exclude until a doctor gives details.

So far just her, BUT she lives with 3 other children who attend the center, so were just waiting. We are a 4 classroom center, and between her and the other children in her house, there in 3 rooms.

Definitely do a health screening of all the kids before allowing them to stay for the day.
