So, back last summer I took a friend's baby. Mistake. Pain and agony from the beginning. I knew I was in trouble the first week when she walked in the door on day 1 saying, "I forgot your money, I'll bring it tonight." Always late. Always with groceries in the car at the LATE pickup. Always forgetting to pay when there was a sick day or a holiday. ATM is always broken. Husband's check is always on hold. Blah blah blah blah. The baby is now 8 months. I've had him for 6 months. Agony. Cries with a whale that pierces the soul. Wants to be held, etc. He can only have organic everything. Last weekend, I had my dad in town. LATE. I called at 7pm. Where are you???? Oh I'm coming. (Lives 3 streets away) Now I get it. You were sitting at home all this time until you came late. Unfortunately we don't grow the backbone until it's too late. Of course, no pre set late fee, etc. The final straw? Came in on Tuesday night and gave me $15 dollars. Yep. You see it right. The atm was broken again. She works at the bank! Nice job. Hubby has nice job. That was it. I said "Your last day will be in 3 weeks." Now, I wish I had a camera. Her face. She comes in crying today at 2pm. She is picking up unannounced crying. She's having an anxiety attack. All the local daycares want $230 or $200 a week. I have been charging $125 and not getting paid correctly. Welcome sister to reality. It is now your problem not mine. I feel like a new person. Wanted to downsize anyway. Go use someone else! Thanks for the vent

Well done. Don't worry about losing a friend. The way she treated you - she wasn't one.

You have much more patience than me.

Good girl!! You absolutely did the right thing. I wouldn't feel bad, we all need to make it in this world and $15 isn't going to cut it. Don't go back on your word, she'll just play you like a piano like she has been all along.

WOW good for you I don't thinks I could have done it. When I started 10 yrs ago I have always told everyone no friends or family. I don't want to lose anyone because of that.
