Thought some might enjoy this, considering the posting of the article that spoke of "stimulation."

Very good article, I agree.

The other day I was bored and ended up doing some cleaning that I really hadn't planned to do.

It is a timely article considering the other one.

I jut said this on a post last week let them be bored! It's important to have that mental space.

Have you ever spent time with a SA kid? It's awful bc at school they are ushered from stimulating activity to stimulating activity. Then they have no idea how to calm their mind. Yet another reason I'm home schooling.

Plus I always tell my kids "I'm not your cruise director" lol!

We were just discussing this at the Breastfeeding seminar that I was at today. We were specifically talking about assisting the "Millenium Moms". How the current generation of moms (20-30 yo's) have grown up needing constant praise and constant scheduling. There is a lot to be said about "teaching" our children to be able to entertain themselves and be creative!

Haha, I like your cruise director comment!

My children are grown now but when they used to complain about being bored I would tell them to go get a pencil and paper. Then they had to list 25 or 50 things (depending on their age) that they could possibly do. Making the list occupied them for a while and then when they were finished I told them to pick something from the list and start doing it. One day when my son was visiting I heard him tell his daughter to do it. Passing it to the next generation.
