Red face Help With Initial Background Check

I live in Washington state and need help with getting licensed. I'm trying to collect everything needed for the initial application process and it is taking me sooooo long. I am very confused by some of the stuff. Here are some questions I have for anyone who is familiar with DEL and WAC codes for in-home day care licensing procedures.

1. What should be included in my resume? Is it just supposed to contain previous work experience? All the work force type stuff I've ever done is only grocery...

2. "Attach a background check clearance form for licensee and all adults in the home." Here's what's been holding me up. I registered on MERIT, have a stars ID and started filling out the online form for a portable background check only to find myself stuck on one of the pages. It wants me to fill out the place I am working at, but I don't work for any daycare or facility, I'm trying to start my own, so it doesn't exist, but we are supposed to fill it in. So I closed it thinking I have the wrong form. I've been searching online for a long time and I'm still as lost as before. Am I just supposed to attach a check to the application folder when it is sent in, and they do it themselves? Also I need to get fingerprinted? They said I need to have an appointment and you can't have it done unless it's being requested from an organization... So lost on all this.

3. When I draw out a floor plan of my home, what would my bedroom, garage, and laundry room be highlighted as? Un-licensed space? Because those are three areas I would not allow children ever to go because there just isn't reason to.

Here is what the text says:

(n) Floor plan, including proposed:
(i) Licensed space;
(ii) Licensed space usage;
(iii) Evacuation routes and emergency exits;
(iv) Unlicensed space;
(v) Licensed space used specifically for sleeping infants, if applicable; and
(vi) Licensed space used for sleeping children for overnight care, if applicable.

PLEASE help

Was this a stupid question?

Was it in the wrong category?

If nobody knows anything about WA licensing procedures, where do you think I can ask questions? I searched Facebook but couldn't find a place that had people to help me...

I could just start randomly calling daycares around here and asking questions like a dummy but who wants to do that lol

(sorry, its just that it's been a week)

I'm in California so I cannot answer all your questions but, the applications usually have a phone number for licensing on them. Here, an "officer of the day" answers the phone and fields questions about applications.

In my experience, you should choose your unlicensed space wisely. I initially set my laundry room as off limits with licensing but, I need to go in there multiple times a day. It was a pain to keep the kids out.

Regarding the facility you work for, here I listed my own name on the background check form. I work for me and the department of licensing gave me a "pending" facility number. It may be different there.

A resume is your work, educational, and volunteer experiences. Google "resume" and millions of examples will pop up.

I'm sorry no one has responded.... I really don't think we have any members on the forum from Washington. and the rules and requirements for each state vary so much that I really can't answer your questions either.

My suggestion would be to contact your area/local Child Care Resource & Referral offices and I bet they would be more than happy to help you out since that is part of the services they offer.

Here is the contact info for that:

and another resource for Washington state providers :
