We have had a crazy summer here with two of my long term dcf separating and kids coming and going here, there, and everywhere. Neither is ready to officially divorce but both have moved and or mom has moved out. Ive also had one kid on maternity, with new baby joining us recently as maternity has ended. One family has been off all summer (teacher) and just returned. So, needless to say late August and all of September has been rather difficult. As expected.

One of my kiddos, whose family is the only one who hasnt been affected by the previously listed issues, has been toilet trained for over a year, and recently has started having poop accidents daily. 4 1/2 yrs old, just started second yr of preschool after summer off preschool but here daily and very routine. Normal kid, but first born and rule follower kind of kid.

Could he be doing this because everyone else is so stressed? Or is it preschool causing this sudden change in toileting? Or something else?

Can definitely be caused by stress but it's anybody's guess....poor guy

Has he been ill lately? Constipation or an imbalance in gut flora can cause bowel incontinence too.
