Default A Typical Day In You Daycare

I was just wondering, for those of you that run a family childcare, if you would be interested in running through your typical day. I don't have kids yet, but was wondering what a typical day would be like.

Typical day at my house...

7:30-8:00 Arrival/Free Play
8:00-8:30 Breakfast/Diapers
8:30-9:15 Free Play
9:15-9:30 Sensory Table (Different activity every week or every few days)
9:30-9:45 Small snack (seems silly to have snack so close to breakfast but
trying anything to curb biting problem)
9:45-10:00 Art
10:00-10:20 Walk
10:20-11:00 Outdoor Play (Swingset/Sandbox/Riding Toys)
11:00-11:15 Diapers/Free Play (while I prep lunch)
11:15-11:35 Lunch
11:30-12:00 Barney
12:00-2:30 Nap
2:30-3:00 Wake up/diapers/Free Play
3:00-3:15 Snack
3:15-4:30 Free Play/Outdoor Play/Close at 4:30

My art time/sensory times are quite short because the kids are two so the attention spans are short. Often times during the day I will do a second art time or second sensory time during some of the free play period. I'm thinking about incorporating a story time during the day as well, but imagine that will only be a few minutes too.

also on a side note.... this is my ideal day... Often we get of track or off schedule and that's ok. I don't stress about it and do my best to follow this the best that I can.

6:40-8:00 - Drop off (at 6:40, 7:15 and 7:30) Kids eat breakfast and start free play time
8:00-9:15- Free play time while I clean up from breakfast and then I go play ( another gets dropped off at 9am)
9:15-9:30 Diaper Change/Potty
9:30-9:45- Snack time
9:45-11:30 - Crafts/Circle/Reading/etc
11:30-12:00 - Free play while I make lunch
12:00- 12:20 - Lunch
12:20-12:45 - Free play while I tidy up and change diapers/potty
12:45-2:45 - Nap/quiet time (I prepare for afternoon snack and tidy and rest)
2:45-3:00 - Snack/Diaper change
3:00 - get kids ready to go outside. Stay outside until p/u (4pm-5:15pm)

This is a new schedule. My other schedule used to have an outside time in AM and PM but now that fall is here (and soon winter) I changed it so that we only go out in the PM for two main reasons (#1- It takes way too long to put cooler weather clothing on and off, if I kept 2 outside times it would be chaos plus outside times would be super short and #2-now that we go out after nap until p/u time they don't bring dirt/mud (and soon snow) into my house! )
I have just started this new schedule yesterday and it seemed to go well...we will see how the rest of the week goes.

I am gonna give you my typical summer day since my days are pretty short right now.

5:45-6:30 First Drop off
6:30-7:30 Breakfast
7:30-8:30 Free play since I have kids coming in through out the morning depending on the day.
8:30-10 Coloroing, puzzles, building blocks
10-10:30 Snack and reading time
10:30-11:30 Free play while I get lunch ready and clean up from am snack
11:30-12 Lunch
12-12:30 craft time, reading time
12:30-1:30 Nap time
1:30-2 Outside play inside free play
2-2:30 PM Snack
2:30-5 outside play or inside play depending on weather

I just started in august so its still a work in progress I know it doesn't seem very structured yet.

Tomorrow will be the start of shorter days since my last child that comes early is starting headstart so my schedule looks like this.

11-11:30 coloring while I get lunch ready
11:30-12 Lunch
12-12:30 crafts or reading
12:30-1:30 Nap time
1:30-2 free play or coloring
2-2:30 PM snack
2:30 to pick up Free play
