If anyone replies and is in the 71-80 group I say we nominate them as provider of the year!

Holy buckets! I couldn't imagine dealing with some of the stuff we deal with regularly at that age.

I know a lot of older people are pretty spry physically...I meant mentally as I KNOW I grow less tolerable as I age.

Well, maybe not less tolerable but more outspoken about things that pee me off and if I spoke up everytime I want to, I wouldn't have any clients

My sub just turned 80 and loves coming over here!

Its so hard to find a sub that doesn't work, family, kids, traveling, wants to be around kids, not busy with retirement, etc.

I actually saw a couple on tv celebrating their 80th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!!!

I'm 21 too, but I probably wont start it until I am 22 or 23, I want to finish community college first.

The provider I used to work for started daycare in the 70's when she was 17- but she started in a van then did it out of a clients home and offered them free daycare (can't do that now).

My grandmother is in her late 70's and is still working full time...as a teacher/kindergarten! I'm telling you, nothing beats good health, that woman puts me to shame!

I am also 44. (I think )

If I am still doing child care when I am in my 70ies, I hope Apple will have developed an app that will change diapers by then.

One for potty training would be good too!

Is it a bad thing when you have to try to remember how old you are??

I'm 38 but unfortunately look much younger. I still get carded at the casino.

Grams helped me here till she was about 79/80. Then dementia came and my gpop passed and she moved in. Still 'helped' but not alone. She loved the kids. I think it kept her young. Miss her not being here.

When I first started daycare I had a dcp ask me "How long do you think you are going to be doing daycare?" My reply was "I will probably be doing this when the dck's call me Granny." Well, guess what my dck's call me? I will be 60 on the 24th of this month. I think I have a good 10 more years in me.

I started my business when I was 26, when my oldest was just 6 weeks old. In some ways that seems like yesterday! Boy have I learned a lot & most of it the hard way! Wish I had this forum back then!

I'll be 60 this summer. I've been doing this for 2 years this month, and I know it's made me younger. I had bad knees when I started, I sort of plunked to sit in the floor and getting up required holding onto a chair. It was not a pretty sight. Now, I'm up and down like I'm 17 again.

Edited to answer the kid question. I don't have any kids, but I have 3 step kids. They are 47, 45, and 42. My great-grandson is 5.

You could post a poll asking what age ranges providers kids are in and IF they have any at all.

Alot of my parents are my age (40's) but have children in the age range of 2-5 for the youngest child and the oldest in their late teen's, early 20's!

Some though didn't start their families till mid-30's and the oldest is 10, youngest is 4.
