About Stepping Stones Montessori
Our Mission Statement Stepping Stones Montessori is a warm, safe, nurturing space where children feel they are an equal and important part of their community and where, in accordance with the teachings of Maria Montessori, they facilitate their own learning in a carefully prepared environment that lays the foundation for a life-long love of learning. Each day begins with a Montessori work time -- each child is assigned an optional community job, such as watering the plants, holding the door, washing windows, and operating the lights. During the work period, children choose activities and receive lessons on materials from seven different areas: language, math, science, geography, art, practical life and sensorial. The classroom is equipped with the traditional Montessori materials, as well as many extensions. After work time, children gather for circle time where we do calendar, weather, songs, group games, puppets and much more!
